Had my 4th loading dose of B12 earlier today, currently suffering with a bad headache this eve & numbness & tingling in my left hand, is this a normal reaction at this stage?

YES! I have been self- injecting for about a year, after trying everything else, tablets, patches, sublinguals, capsules to no help. This site was my answer, you are in the right place, great help on this site, Nackapan, Wedgewood and many others.

Generally, after I inject, my hands have serious numbness, difficult walking, general pain , unfortunately, you will get worse before better, but you will get better! You really have to be patient, I wound up informing my GP, about PA, his knowledge was very limited, I gave information from this site that finally convinced him. After a round of test vitals, folate, vitamin D, Homocysteine levels within range, even B12, levels after injecting, was high due to injections.

I have improved slowly but improved, I now inject 1ml of methylcobalamin, EOD, some days up and down,

You will get better just very frustrating, I pray to God, through Jesus a lot.

Sorry for such a long answer but many of the wonderful people on this site helped me much with detailed answers of their experiences. You will get better, takes awhile.

Help from, Sleepybunny, Technoid, among others.

I got PA, from Dr. Prescribed PPI’s for Gerd,

This link has good info;healthunlocked.com/redirect...

Be patient, pray you will get better.

hi, just wondering when you say takes a while to get better, how long are you talking? Just curious. Started injecting daily 1mg methylcobalamin about 1.5 months ago & still dealing with daily dizziness & fatigue. Any information is appreciated. Thanks

yes it’s normal and is a sign that the B12 is repairing nerve damage.

I saw a consultant yesterday who explained that there is a repair period of treatment where symptoms can get worse before improving followed by a maintenance period.

It’s basically 5 steps forward with an injection the 4 steps back as a lot of the B12 is lost in urine as it’s water soluable. The NICE guidelines are that during the repair period you need the B12 every other day until no improvement- so could be more than 6 injections.

I have had 6 and am still on one every other day for the next month then to weekly if my symptoms allow. I have opted to self inject.

So hang in there and be positive knowing the pain and discomfort is a good sign. Keep a diary of symptoms and how they change as this will help you demonstrate your b12 needs.

Also check that you have sufficient Vitamin D and folate and other things I can’t remember as b12 needs these “cofactors” to work. I have been given a high dose folic acid tablet and patches for vit D and other things. Sorry not being too specific as I am doing this from recall. Contact me directly if you want the details and I will look it up.

Best of luck.

OK, OK, I am not in a good mood. I am deficient in folic acid and Vitamin B12. Just viewed my online lab results to see if I'm improving or not. They checked all the cholesterol stuff like that, (because they can put you on meds for that), but they did not test for my Vitamin Bs, any of them. Waste of my time. I am up to here with bloody docturs and overall medical field here. Yes I can spell doctor. You have to absolutely take your case into your own hands. they do not care. This is why I responded to your post. Please know that if you are Anemic or def in Vit b12 or any one of the B vitamins you must study Vit B12 deficiency or chance being labeled or diagnosed as having dementia. You care (about yourself) "they"don't.

Not what you're looking for?
