Blood pressure?

This might be a daft question.

I have been injecting EOD for a few yrs. For the last 4 to 5w weeks having blood pressure difficulties.Postural hypertension. My leg weakness and other slight PA symptoms are showing.

Is PA affected at all by ones blood pressure? This is a shot in the dark , my GP is trying hard.

l got an appointment in 2 hrs .

Hi,

I'm not medically trained but wondered what your folate and iron levels were like.

Have your potassium levels and magnesium levels been checked?

NHS link about potassium test

nhs.uk/conditions/potassium...

Some people experience a drop in potassium levels (hypokalaemia) when they first start B12 treatment but you say you've been EOD for years.

BNF hydroxocobalamin

bnf.nice.org.uk/drugs/hydro...

Will add more later if I think of anything.

Thanks, I have a banana every day! Am veggie for 35 yrs. so used to monitoring intake of nutrients. It's difficult to get app. with compliant (!)GP ,so conversation about testing other things is a problem. Might have to go down the private route. Who is the best company to go to ???

I wouldn't say blood pressure affects PA, but the reverse can occur. Since you say some symptoms are back, only things I can think of are heat/light damage from the heatwave, same for folic acid - or maybe you need more, or perhaps thyroid - do you have any thyroid issues or do you have recent tests for TSH, FT4, FT3? If not I would ask GP for those 3 thyroid labs. They are best done in the morning & fasting though.

Have you recently had covid? Fluctuating and extreme blood pressure is one of the symptoms of long covid. Others are numbness & tingling, brain fog, shortness of breath... so basically all low b12 symptoms as well! :/

Thanks, please see reply to Sleepybunny.I cope with temperature very well right by the sea. I haven't had Covid 👍🤞yet.

Just fed up with being rubbish after getting Sooo much better with jabs.

I do feel very "humbled and honoured" ( as per all cxxp politicians ) to have had 3 visits to a GP in 3 weeks .

Glad to hear about covid. Ouch sorry to hear the many visits. Hope you can figure it out quickly.

Thyroid UK has a list of private labs, with discounts available for some of them : thyroiduk.org/help-and-supp...

I am so sorry, that comment was about my first contact with surgery! That gave me an app . 2 hrs after request, unheard of hear.I have had 3 apps in 2 weeks. He is really trying. I am having an ECG in 2 weeks, there is the delay.

Thankyou so much for asking,

this group is full of caring people.👏👏

Sounds like progress :)

Yes lots of caring people here :)

I was reading about postural hypertension last night. They don't seem to know much about it!

In addition to getting electrolytes tested as sleepybunny suggested, you might also ask for adrenal hormones to be tested: cortisol, aldosterone, renin. First thing in the morning, fasting. One of them has a special protocol too i think, forget which one, so maybe best to get them done at a hospital.

Here is the paper I was reading. Very detailed info on what they know so far. ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161...

My blood pressure had been about 120/80 for decades, but about a year ago the top number started climbing (sorry, I didn't pay attention to the bottom number), until consistently reaching 150+ . I went to Google Scholar, a search engine for research databases, and searched things such as "B12 deficiency cardio". I saw lots of things about low blood pressure, but nothing about high blood pressure. I did, however, see some references to "heart rate variability" related to B12 deficiency. I didn't study those articles, but the link appeared to be the autonomic nervous system, which, among many other things, controls heart pulse rate. To make a long story shorter, June 1 my heart rate was 29, 42, 42, and two weeks ago I had a pacemaker implanted. I don't know what, if any, effect B12 deficiency had on the ability of my heart to maintain its own pulse rate. Yesterday at a two-week checkup my blood pressure was 127. The opinion of the cardiologist was that increasing blood pressure had been my system's attempt to compensate for the decreasing pulse rate.

Thanks, I have always had low bp, except for preggers, when it went"normal". I was given hypertension meds at 60 ish, then told normal in the 160s!Am looking up all the refs, and more ,to have a better discussion with new GP.

It seems this is another topic that should be researched.

Aren't bodies wonderful !
