I hope everyone is doing well. Has anyone experienced Covid and suspect it had a negative effect on B12. I have been injecting for 2 years with a lot of success. I have occasional periods when symptoms flare up slightly but it’s very manageable. I had my second child in March and had a bit of a setback right after giving birth but increased frequency of injections for a few weeks and was doing much better. Then, bad luck struck and my whole family ended up with Covid. Overall I had a mild case but it took over 2 weeks to recover. I still do not feel 100% a month later but I have a major increase in my B12 symptoms ( or at least that’s how it feels. Not sure if it’s still just left over Covid or if having Covid took a hit on my body and B12 level. Trying to decide if I need to increase injection frequency again. My symptoms are ringing ears, pressure headaches, weird vision, internal vibrations, fatigue, and my equilibrium is way off. Caring for a new baby and trying to manage this has not been so great so I am trying to figure out what to do. Thanks so much

Yes, me!I imagine having a new baby is also leaving you extra-depleted but I am experiencing the same problem.
I had Covid in March and I was ill but not terrible and took a few weeks to get back to normal.
My B12 symptoms are usually reasonably well under control but since then my usual regime (every 8 weeks) doesn’t seem to be enough. I spoke to my GP who said fighting the infection had probably used up my B12 quicker. I had an injection and the palpitations I was experiencing subsided, but now less than four weeks later I’m having issues with dizziness, fatigue, anxiety, pins and needles so have booked my next injection early as my GP said I could.
Everything just seems to affect me more now, e.g. if I get hungry or tired it is having a much more extreme impact than normal.
Congratulations on babe. I’m sorry to hear about COVID hitting the whole family. Yes, your B12 levels can be affected from it, plus giving birth and being a new mum.
It’s definitely worth increasing your B12 injections especially with your symptoms. Not only for you to be healthy but for family life too.
Hi. Congrats on baby. The symptoms of long covid are very similar to B12 deficiency and the treatment needs to be the same = more B12 injections - worked well for my Daughter.
Yes, I'm sure of it and also the vaccines seemed to do the same for my dad, who's B12 is always precarious - when he had Covid, we made sure he had far more B12. With Covid I craved meat, which was not normal for me, so I doubled my B12 intake. I still have noticeably more dizzyness, spacial issues, balance off, brain fog, but not long since I had it, so continuing with higher dose.
I wonder if you might have used nitrous oxide during labour, in which case your B12 might already have been compromised as it can inactivate a good %, and I suspect that the effect will be greater in those who do not have good stores as they do not absorb/hold/metabolise well. Especially important to get levels back up, not just for you but for the baby (many congratulations!) if you are breast feeding. Best wishes
