Hello everyone, just a quick follow up from a previous post. I have a Sister and Aunt with PA. Over the past 12 months I have experienced dizziness, heart palpitations , brain fog, difficulty concentrating, mind neuropathy in both feet. I have had pathology and the last 3 results show elevated b12 (3-4 times higher than normal)
I have asked my GP if it could be related to PA- I know that is a deficiency in B12 however my symptoms are similar. My GP doesn’t believe that it is related to B12. I have seen a neurologist - all clear there.
My recent pathology results were-
I gA- 0.65 ( low )
Iron studies-
Trans Sat - 54 (high) normal range is 10-45
B12 level- high
1213 (normal range >177)
I don’t take B12 supplements or have high B12 in diet
Could this possibly be related to PA or am I barking up the wrong tree because so far there is no explanation for my symptoms
Many thanks

Not B12 deficiency. The levels are very elevated. Have you had full kidney and liver panels. Kidney problems can cause B12 to build up because it doesn't get removed as efficiently. Liver problems can cause B12 dumping - basically all the stored B12 gets released at once and dumped into the blood.
These can cause a condition known as functional B12 deficiency - where there is a lot in the blood but very little is getting into your cells so you are deficient at the cellular level.
The test for this would be MMA and homocysteine - both of which would be raised if your cells don't have enough B12 to recycle them.
