I've been hearing for some years that the FDA was looking at compounded B-12 and might make it unavailable. I have my B-12 compounded with no preservatives and shipped to me on ice. Today I just reordered and they told me I could only order a one month supply. They can only send me RX for 60 days of treatment, they make it 30 days ahead of time, so I'm getting 30 days of treatment. It also will show an expiration date of 60 days from it's making. Yet it's being made the same exact way as with a 120 day expiration date.
So I told her I do shots every week and please send me 4 vials. My Rx says one shot every three weeks. But she went right along with me.
What have others experienced in the USA?

I get my methylcobalamin pre-loaded syringes from a compounding pharmacy in New Jersey, also shipped on ice. I've always ordered 8 shots (2 months) at a time. But I usually inject every 4 to 6 days. I will call them tomorrow and just ask how many months supply I can get.
FlyGranny, what made you decide to inject twice a week? I brought this up to my NP and she said not to, but I still have tingling in my feet after 3 months of weekly shots.
My doctor and I really don’t discuss it. She’s knows I use more than she thinks I should but doesn’t argue with me about it. My symptoms are pretty much non existent when I inject twice a week. Most people who handle their Pernicious Anemia themselves follow improvements of their symptoms due to injections. I’ve learned over the last 20 years most doctors don’t have a clue as to what it’s like to live with PA. It’s been a huge problem in my family, my grandfather died from it AND it was a secondary cause of my mother’s death.
I have overnight delivery currently and it's expensive. How is the B-12 shipped from Canada? I'm getting preservative free hydroxocobalamin. I suspect that your B-12 has a preservative in it.
