I’m 41 year old male with a Parkinson’s dx. Dx 3.5 years ago. I think I have PD and/or PA. Positive DatScan (PD test) but was on a massive dose of Celexa that can cause false positive. No response to any PD drugs. Been doing the Coimbra Protocol for 3 years (High dose Vitamin D for autoimmune disease) for 3 years. 0 progression for PD. I’m 100 percent Scandinavian which commonly have a problem with absorbing B12. I went to Mexico and got some B12 shots. After weekly injections I started feeling good but was on another thing that hurt my kidneys. I thought the it was the B12 that hurt my kidneys so I stopped. I checked my b12 right after the shots and it was off the charts high. 6 months later it was right at 300. That’s seems really fast to lose that much. My homocysteine was also high even though by trial and error I took supplements that lower it (B6, NAC, Zinc etc) not even knowing what it (homocysteine)was when I started.

My walk is more like Sub Acute Degeneration than Parkinson’s. It’s my worst symptom. After supplementing for about 5 weeks, my previous anxiety is gone, my walk is a little better but much easier to walk, I can type again, I feel so much better.

Do I have PA? How much of my problems can be attributed to B12? I heard it can take a year to heal?

Thanks

Check this websiteb12deficiency.info/signs-an...

It gives you a good start regarding B12 deficiency and PA. These are two different in cause of deficiency.

Sleepybunny post mostly gives you good links regarding B12 deficiency.

But if you can absorb orally then takecsliq release B12 in high dose along with injection. There is no overdose for B12 and it doesn't give hardship to kidneys as it's water soluble, but remember loading dose (injection) is required for most people as it helps B12 reach out every cell cytoplasm even those have problem in receiving it but slow release high dose B12 ( methylcobalamine) helps alot too specially in raising tolerance for injection.

Hi,

Some other B12 links that might be of interest.

Some links may have details that could be upsetting.

I am not medically trained just someone who spent years suffering unrecognised B12 deficiency.

I'm in UK so hopefully you can access these articles.

I am not medically trained but I have some interest in PD as a family member has it. Apparently B12 levels decline over the course of PD.

michaeljfox.org/grant/relat...

The whole subject is a bit of a grey area. But some clinical studies show that B12 shots help with PD. Which makes sense if PD lower B12 levels.

And of course PD is misdiagnosed 30% of the time. The main symptom that consultants used to diagnose PD is essential tremors. Are your tremors gradually stopping?

38yroldmale in reply tocharks

I never have had a tremor. Symptoms in order of severity 1. Gait (slowing improving w/b12) 2. Anxiety (gone with B12) 3. Depression (almost gone with B12) 4. Fine motor skills (improving with B12) Thanks for your input.

All the symptoms you mention can be associated with B12 deficiency.

I hope that B12 treatment will help whether it's PD, PA or both.

Well I had all those symptoms. Lucky I didn't go to your GP. Would have frightened me to death.

Seriously though. I understand that one of PD primary symptom is tremors. It will be interesting to see how much you heal with B12.
