Hello All ! I hope everyone is doing ok !

I could do with some advice .. I have been under tremendous stress just recently and my stomach has been so painful .. I have atrophic gastritis and PA .. normally I have pain but manageable .. but the stress is making it difficult to manage . I know the Drs normally prescribe ant acids for the pain which I believe is counterproductive.. due to the low stomach acid associated with this condition.. but what can I take for the pain ? Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks so much

I took a marvellous probiotic called Symprove ..It was the best thing i ever did for my gut pain .Don’t know if this would help you -but , it would do you no harm ( unlike PPI medications ) It’s all about getting good bacteria into you gut The bad thing is -it’s expensive. I only took it for about 3 months .I haven’t looked back

Best wishes

Try Bio-Kult probiotic capsules - very good ! ( Amazon.co.u.k. ) Not cheap but cheaper than Symprove ) Seems to be a new concentrated capsule now with B12. .

Hi lifegems,

I’m really sorry to hear you are in pain. I use toxaprevent (the red one) which I found great. I am a coeliac so the one I use is aimed at the small intestine - I have pain in lower right side.

But as a mere suggestion this one MAY help for pain in actual stomach & heartburn type symptoms

Thanks I shall look into it .. it’s not heartburn and definitely stress induced.. but right now it’s very difficult to manage the stress

I'm so sorry about the pain and stress lifegems - very difficult

For what it's worth, this was my experience of trying many things over the years (family history of thyroid disease, PA, stomach problems):

*Swedish Bitters - a good start to help sort out the whole digestive system.

*Kefir first thing in the morning.

*Fermented foods - sauerkraut, kimchi.

* Vogel's Centaurium and sauerkraut for acid reflux ( lemon, lime anything bitter helps stimulate the low acid. )

The above have proved the most successful remedies for me after years of stomach problems on PPIs - but we're all different!

plus:

*Gluten free diet with plenty of meat, fish, cheese, eggs, bone broth, spinach and other leafy greens, avoiding processed food, sugar and high carbs.

Probiotics if these work for you. I haven't tried Symprove.

AVOIDING stress (difficult I know) alcohol, overexercising, overdoing things generally - any of these cancel out ongoing improvement.

BOOSTING mood/wellbeing - gentle walks in nature, music, etc, reading, etc. as energy/ mood allows.

NB : Test and TREAT for H/Pylori if not already done (causes gastric issues and depletes B12 as you probably already know)

Hoping you find relief soon 🤞

I find I can now tolerate a small glass of Bailey's occasionally 😊
