Pain relief for PA

Hi, just a quick question really. Does anyone suffer with really painful cramps and stomach problems in general with PA? If so is there anything that can help aside from oral painkillers?

Thanks in advance

Have you had your gall bladder checked for gall stones?

These can manifest as spasms or stomach ache. Or almost anywhere in the abdomen.

B12 deficiency can increase cholesterol which is the main component of gall stones.

P. A. patients have low or no stomach acid hypochlorhydria or Achlorhydria my gastroenterologist told me , when I consulted him about my stomach cramps , but there is no treatment for this . So I had to find my own treatment . Low stomach acid upsets the stomach flora and bad bacteria dominate . Probiotics help this situation . You can purchase probiotics eg Symprove but it it's expensive . There are cheaper ones . You can also make your own . E. g. Sauerkraut made with organic red or white cabbage ( google it) This helped me enormously and I haven't had a stomach problem since . If this doesn't help your problem then you have done yourself no harm . But I think that it's worth a try . Best wishes to you .

Sad to hear you suffer with this as well - I just take a good probiotic every day - it helps a little but I had to have a colon resection due to stomach issues that could not really be attributed to any specific cause - I now believe it to be B12 deficiency causing chronic diarrhoea; which is improving with high doses of B12.

I hope you find some relief from your stomach issues

I had terrible stomach and abdominal pains also. My gastrinologist said there was nothing that they could do for it. So I figured things out on my own. Not eating too much and eating smaller portions but the main thing is like eating 6 prunes, 3 figs and citrucel. I found Miralax and Phillips Milk of Magnesia just makes things worse and don't really help. It took me a lot of trial and error but now I do not have those pains anymore. I really do believe the Pernicious anemia with a low B12 contributes to those pains. Hope that helps you!
