Cyanocobalamin v Hydroxocobalamin

Hi all

I've just managed to find the information I had read online a while back regarding the various forms of Vitamin B12 and which one to use. Although CliveAlive has used the Cyanocobalamin version for years - is now in his 80s - which speaks for itself, Dr Ben Lynch has other ideas. I don't know who Dr Ben Lynch is but this is the link to his opinion of the various forms of Cobalamin should anyone wish to look at it drbenlynch.com/resource/4-f.... Hence my confusing as Dr Lynch thinks Cyanocobalamin is garbage.

Surely it speaks for itself as its kept him Clivealive ! Its a choice and what you get and what suits you.

Ben Lynch is apparently not a medical doctor at all . He is a Naturopath . Also an anti-vaxxer , so I don’t know if one can take all he writes as gospel . Cynocobalamin is widely used in the USA ,without any problems .

Thanks again Wedgewood for all your assistance and advice - much appreciated. I will use Cyanocobalamin in a couple of weeks.

Also Cynocobalamin was used in U.K until Hydroxocobalamin was formulated . Hydroxocobalamin was adopted as treatment because it was supposed to stay in the system longer and therefore saved nurses time . We will be interested to hear how you get on with it. You might not find any difference of course. The only way to evaluate would be to do “blind testing using both Cyno and Hydroxo , but too difficult to do when self-injecting !

Cyanocobalamin is what we get here in the US and, believe me, it works just fine.

Hi Moggy1234, I have cyanocobalamin injections every four weeks here in the UK. It was the only way I could get more frequent injections (I was told I could only have hydroxocobalamin every 8 weeks). I found that having cyano at the surgery and self injecting hydroxocobalamin once every four weeks (between the GP appointments) works ok for me.

Thanks Cinders70 for your post. I am going to SI with cyan in a couple of weeks and report back. I will continue with the hydrox at a later date after I have checked out how I feel after the cyan - in case one cobalamin suits me better than the other.
