I have intractable hiccups. I’ve been worked up by an ENT who didn’t find any reason. I was eventually dx’d with a very rare disease called Stiff Person Syndrome. I’m not saying that’s what it is, actually, it isn’t listed as a presenting symptom (but a few others with the disease do have the symptom).
I had the hiccups for about a year sporadically and my neurologist tested me for B12 deficiency (also.a symptom of SPS) and tried a low dose of baclofen, a muscle relaxer. It worked. My neurologist was coming at it from a symptom of B12 deficiency causing numbness and different muscle weakness. My diagnosis evolved over time with other symptoms.
