GP asking for blood Test after B12 injections

After reverting to monthly B12 injections, and the nurse stating I can self inject at home. I have asked for a repeat prescription and GP has said no and called me in for a blood test! Is there is link I can share with him to state no blood test should be carried out after injections? I cannot find it?

Thanks, Update on my 28 year old daughter who is following in my footsteps, hair loss, fatigue, neuropathy... her GP offered counselling. She has now spoken with a Gastro who is arranging small bowel MRI, PA test and endoscopy! moving forward after 5 years of suffering.

I'm pleased to heat your daughter is finally having g investigations . It took 9 years to get a diagnosis fir my daughter . From 18yrs when symptoms stepped up Ftom 9-18 yrs I was taking her all over the place as I knew she wasnt 'right' but nnot constantly ill to 18. So push push all of the way

So stressful.

Now added stress put on you by Gp.

While you are fighting this I woujd buy some b12 online.

I found I could fight the fight so much better when it was under my control with the 'threat ' of no treatment from the NHS .

The no need for further testing is by the the experts in hematology. BSH.

PAS could help.

Fbirder can quote it . I. Sure many more can.

I wish you well.

Thank you, I am happy to self inject with my own supplies, so I know I will be ok.. .Just wanted to tell the GP that I am not easily accepting their changes. My fight is for my daughter, I can look after myself, luckily.

One of those local guidelines posted by Sleepybunny included a section saying that further testing was pointless. let me look for it after lunch.

Found it: sandwellandwestbhamccgformu...

Measuring cobalamin levels is unhelpful as levels increase with treatment regardless of how effective it is- retesting is not usually required. However, cobalamin can be measured 1–2 months after starting treatment if there is no response

Thank you. Hadn't seen that one before, that's great :)

Hi,Just politely refuse the b12 blood test. Show him the guidelines information from PAS. It's your body and there is no need for this test and no need for them to take a sample of blood on its own!

The results are totally meaningless. I told my doctor that, he then refused to give me my B12 so I told him I would get my supplies for Germany and do it all myself! I want him to put that on my notes so he would not think I was cured and that I was still needing and getting my B12 injections.

They have updated my records again repeating i can have monthly due my neuro symptoms. Although I was trained for SI and given needles by the nurse, they have asked me to attend the surgery. Positive, but I did say it makes no sense and its better so it free up nurses time even if I have to pay for prescription from pharmacy.

What a shame that this unnecessary struggle goes on for the next generation. How much is getting unlearned by medical professionals in this area. For a condition with a main core of fatigue, all this fighting for help is highly detrimental.

However, really relieved that your daughter is getting to see a consultant.

Meanwhile, it seems you have a few more fiery hoops to jump through !
