Mg daughter has acid reflux its mainly under control now by a huge change in diet and ways of eating.

As fod magnesium and b12. Theh can be taken together. They are often in multi bits.

I'm not aware of a b12liquid though.

What was her diet if you don't mind me asking?

I would recommend fast tract diet by Norman Robillard. I think taking probiotics has helped me a lot also.

She used fodmap as a bassline .

It is ongoing. Her digestion is very poor. She has POTs s well as PA /b12 deficiency.

She has eliminated alot . Diary. Fructans. Gluten. Eggs . Ect.

It's an elimination process that takes a lo g time. Some foods she can have but only certain amounts.

This is an extreme case of digestion problems and reflux. Do not deny yourself nutrition.

You may only need to experiment. She does now have a pribiotic that suits her budget. Her safe foods I clude.

Chi seeds and other seeds

Avocado berries

Almond milk (fortified

Chicken

Soya products

Tofu

Peppers tomatoes green beans

I the list is building . She did a trial of broccoli as can eat kale but not tolerated. That seems it has a higher glucose index?

Shes gone from enjoying most foods (albeit cheese) for years. A keen cook. Still cooks for others. Most recently a huge collection for her sisters freezer . As has a new born.

So such a shame.

It has helped enormously as at one point she was very close to being tibe fed as so deficient in nutrients.

Small frequent meals. Not too late.

Acid with food. Lemon juice ect. Stopped all anti acids prescribed a long time ago. Wasnt on them that long .

So worth keeping a food diary.

Pernicious Anaemia patients have low stomach acid ( due to antibodies that compromise the parietal cells which produce stomach acid and the Intrinsic Factor) . Low stomach acid means the oesophageal sphincter does not get the message to shut tightly ,so some of the low strength acid escapes through the sphincter and causes “acid reflux” ( heart burn) . It is low strength — full strength stomach acid burns a hole in wood , May be your B12 deficiency is caused by P.A. which is the most common cause of B12 deficiency , if the reason is not dietary .

This happened to me . But once I had found the right amount of B12 injections ( once a week for me ) and also helped my gut with probiotics, ( SYMPROVE ) the reflux stopped , and has never returned .

If you have tested negative for the intrinsic factor antibody test , that is NOT proof that you do not have Pernicious Anaemia. . About 50% of Pernicious Anaemia patients test negative for this test , it is NOT. a test for P.A, . It is a test for the presence of intrinsic factor antibodies at that particular moment . They do not always show up . Doctors do not seem to know this. Our Chairman , Martyn Hooper , was tested 3 times before they showed up . This should always be bourne in mind . There is NO fool proof test for P.A.as many P.A. patients know to their cost . SYMPTOMS are the most important factor .. plus knowledge of all other possibilities e.g. - diet ,vegan or strict vegetarianism , parasitic involvement ,( fish tapeworm ) prescription drugs like P.P.Is ( e,g, Omeprazole) and some diabetic drugs .(e.g. Metformin )

My daughter is a classic case of no PA diagnosis. Her first b12 test was 82 pg/l she had been presenting with digestion issues ,muscle aches , fatigue the list goes on . She had an endoscopy. Bad reflux aksi the sort of Anaemia you can get ? Megobalastic so very breathless too. Low ferritin of 19. Low bit d 19 . A classic cases of misdiagnosed fibromlgia

I saw b12 injections wake her up. She was getting very bad brain fog too and unfortunately this all led to an autonomic disorder POTs.

Many on their forum had uniagnosed b12 def and PA

So as wedgwood states a negative result means nothing .

low stomach acidity can cause acid reflux as well as high stomach acidity.

Low stomach acidity can also cause problems absorbing B12, leading to a deficiency - but it takes a while. Symp[toms of B12 deficiency tend to develop very slowly over time so can often go unnoticed.

I take digestive enzyme capsules with some of my meals. They seem to help me with digesting foods, less burping and other forms of gas release (ha, ha).
