Any recommendations for auto injector?

Thanks to the great help from wedgewood, I've just bought 100 ampoules of B12 from Amazon.de (how ridiculous is the UK?) so I'll be picking up the auto injector from the company in Denmark.

I've searched for previous topics and have seen a few recommendations, but just wondered which is the best needle size? And the injection is intra-muscular, is that right?

If you have any advice, that would be very much appreciated.

I bought the stainless steel auto injector but couldn’t use it I decided to just go down the syringe and needle route and I manage fine with that,I really regret paying out all that money for something I’m stuck with so all I’d say is think carefully about it.

There’s a few members here who have bought the auto injectors and swear by them so it’s probably like everything in life down to personal choice.

I’d buy a few needles and syringes from Medisave first and see how it goes if I was you.good luck.x

Yeah, I had seriously thought about which way to go but I've had to inject testosterone years ago and although I have no issue with needles I really struggled to do it myself!

I thought I'd give the auto injector a try and if it's no better I'm sure I'll find somebody who wants it second hand! haha.

I do Subcutaneous injections at home.

I use a 30G 1/2 " ong to inject and 21G 1" long to draw up the b12

If you choose to do IM the nurse uses a 23G blue needle 1 -11/2 " long.

If you Google it it tells you the gauge and length for each method.

Sc usually 27-30G

IM 23g or I believe some use 24g.

I bought a ampoule 'snap it ' recommended on here. I love that little gadget. The first one I bought didnt know how to use it lol

Sorry have never used an auto I jecter

Ah, okay so it can be done subcut too. I seemed to remember the nurse who did my loading doses 2 years ago did subcut too but NHS website mentioned IM.

Think I'd rather do subcut myself. Thank you nackapan. I'll look into the ampoule snapper too!

The NHS wont do sc as not licensed to for b12.

I managed after a recommendation from neurologist in the end to get s prescription of b12 for sc. I had to buy the neddkes ect .

Meanwhile as the decision took so long I'd bought it all anyhow.

On the German b12 box it has sc as wel.

On the nhs prescription ones Accord. (Made by same pharmacy ) does not. !

B12 even though it originally was given subcutaneously changed tk IM but I csnt fi d reasons why.

2ml syringes comparable to needles you buy. A sharps box. I got all mine from medisave.

It was too bulky for me and I wouldn’t know if it was less scary or less painful because I didn’t use it.Thats just me DaveT so don’t be put off by me you’ll get a lot of positivities about it from fellow members who do use it.

Meant to add wedgewood has helped many of us on here who really struggled in the beginnning and would not have got as far as we did without her advice bless her.x

I have tagged you in a post I did on my auto injector. I wouldn't be without one now.

I hate needles so that's why I bought it.

Hi DaveT81! I’ve been using the Inject-Ease by AmbiMedInc. I ordered it from Amazon. It’s light and easy and inexpensive and works beautifully but for subcutaneous only. It will only accommodate insulin syringes so that’s what I use, a 1ml insulin syringe with a 30G needle. I emailed the company and they informed me that they are working on developing an auto injector for IM injections but for now this is all that they have. Which is fine with me because it is working out so well. Google search Inject-Ease and I believe you will find a nice video that explains how it works. Good luck!
