Low folic acid result even with a good diet?

So I’ve had my blood test results back, all normal apart from my folic acid level was 3.6.

My question is, is it normal to feel really ill, over the past month I’ve been exhausted, nauseous, mild headache that comes and goes, upset stomach once a day, off my food ( but still eating ) and just a general feeling that I’m slowly dying.

Is it normal to feel this bad just due to a folic acid deficiency? It’s seriously affecting my day to day living!

My diet is pretty good, I seem to eat all the right things!

I’m just at a total loss to be told by my doctor that I’m going to feel like this for at least 90 days until I make new blood!

Has anyone else experienced what I’m going through?

My daughter did . Low folate can give horrid symptoms once het levels were up via doctors advice she takes 400mcg folic acid daily . She tried stopping as upped it in het diet but obviously csnt absorb enough like you.

So sorry to hear this but I have been there too... 18 mths ago I was told to initially take tablets from Tesco which I did to no avail eventually I got them on prescription and took 800 a day until the levels started to come up now take 400 a day and feel so much more myself ... take care x
