B12 injection

Hi.

I'm hoping for some advice please on purchasing b12 injections for self-administration.

My reading is always at the low end of normal and my Dr is reluctant to give me more than 3 monthly.

I want to have energy again! 😃

Thank you.

Hi. My Dr is the same. I still have symptoms but he wont treat me. I have tried other forms first and they seem to be working. I am taking 1ml sublingual b complex each morning, along with a multi vitamin with minerals. I am also taking b12 and folic acid patches - I'm playing around with the frequency at the moment. It appears to be making an improvement. I still have some tired days but my neuro symptoms appear to be improving. I also keep a diary of what I'm taking and how I feel.

If this doesn't work, then I plan on going down the self Injection route.

Just find out what's best for you - usually by trial & error!!

Also, id like to point out a fantastic side effect on the day I put on a patch - I get an amazing nights sleep, wake up feeling a bit sleepy but feel pretty good after that. That's a bonus for me considering how I was feeling.

That sounds marvellous! I hadn't heard of b12 patches. Are they through your Dr?

Thank you 😊

I get my patches from amazon.co.uk. I don't want to start injecting yet as I'm hoping to get somewhere through the nhs as the last time I saw a Dr he was only a locum.

Hi I'm new to this..do the patches work if your body can't absorb the vitamin? I'm on injections for that reason and just wondering if the patches would be worth a try :-)

Yup, they sure do. I have gastric atrophy and PA, so I can't absorb B12 properly. I have hydroxo-B12 jabs every 7 to 10 days, that woks, but not completely.

So I started to use these patches - amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00... which were on sale at £3 per pack, unfortunately they're now a lot more.

I use one a day, but they recommend one a week, which makes them a lot cheaper. And I do feel much better when I use them.

Thanks, I've just started the injections and was thinking of maybe getting some patches too to boost it so it works a bit quicker hopefully. The nurse said it could be a few weeks to feel the effects of the injections.

Demand you get referred to a haematologist if you have had Neuro symptoms then it's every 2 months according to the bsh, it took a while, but my gp has no choice now because the haematologist has told him to do it.

Self injection equipment is not hard to get hold of from Germany, I have loads but when I told the gp I was doing it he there and then offered to put me on the injections again through the surgery, I told him he was out of his depth and I would never beg for them again.

Thank you 😊

I don't really understand the problem with giving more regular injections at the Dr's, if you can't have too much and the b12 is, apparently, inexpensive?

The way my doctor explained it is that your body can only increase its levels so quickly (actually very slowly) so taking shots more frequently than once a week would not necessarily do you any good.

My husband has 3 monthly at the Drs he needs it more. We ordered ours from a German company called mycare.de . It came straight away and cost was very reasonable it was 9 euros for 10 ampules of 1ml. The web address is mycare.de and then search for Vitamin b12 Rotex medica injktionslosung
