Day 8 after injection and I can hardly walk.

I had almost debilitating symptoms before being diagnosed with b12 deficiency and the worst one was that I could hardly walk, in addition to pins and needles, numbness, brain fog, severe fatigue, etc. My Neuro gave me his blessing to do injections every 2 weeks but I can hardly make it to that point. So, I’m going to do one today and I just sent him a message asking for his approval of this and any opinion he has about my progress. I was feeling great but now I feel like I’ve taken 10 steps backwards. Does anyone else have the issue of “heavy legs” that feel like bricks when you are in between injections? It is awful and very scary.

Yes I think a lot of us can relate to this I had to resort to every other day self injecting without gps knowledge.

The first few loading shots I had Back in March I felt fabulous then I started to feel so tired legs like metal posts and the pain and burning in legs and feet was crippling.nurse just said never mind once your body is topped up with loading doses you’ll feel better,I never did I felt worse by end of loading doses so decided to try self injecting .

If I try and reduce the frequency I’m right back to square one again walking like a drunk,no coordination, foul tempered all the usual stuff.

The one thing I have noticed is if I don’t keep up the folate supplements my symptoms are even more heightened,I’ve just discovered that this last week or so,as far as I’ve learned that’s because I have confirmed p.a and can’t store the folate I get from food,it’s different for diet b12 deficiency apparently.

You can only benefit from self injecting so I’d say go for it and live your life to its fullest.take care x

Thanks for your reply. Walking like a drunk is exactly what it feels like!! I know I’m doing it but I can’t correct it!

I just heard from my doc and he is ok with me doing another injection when needed. I was going to do it anyway but it just feels good knowing he gets it and is on board with it. He wants to see me in 2 weeks for another exam so I am happy he is being diligent in my care and not blowing me off like so many docs do. It is just unbelievable about the posts I read where the docs just don’t get it!

That’s great as you say most of us are injecting behind closed doors as our gps are just not interested in how we are actually functioning day to day with this horrible affliction.

The good thing is we have each other to bounce things off that we can never ask medics as we get that 🥱look.

You do what’s best for you and above all keep yourself well mentally and physically because it’s something that with the right care and time we can manage to acceptable levels isn’t it.x
