I started the B12 injections 4 weeks ago and had my first 6 injections, three each week for two weeks, which finished two weeks ago and over the past few weeks I have come out in a rash all over my face, front and back, which feels really bumpy and almost acne looking. I have been to my doctor and they gave me 5 days of steroids, this didn’t help so now I am taking an antibiotic called Doxycycline which so far is also not helping, has anyone else had this reaction? My feet and hands also started to swell but this has gone down now, I am just wondering if anyone had this reaction and how you got rid of the rash? It’s really getting me down! I am hoping it won’t be three months until the B12 is out of my system and due a top up that it’s lasts for.
I have been told I can’t have the injections moving forward and I will need to take two tablets everyday instead.
Any advice would be really appreciated! X

Spots and sore lumps ainly on my face neck and scalp. They take a while but do go without treatment. I initially was given a hydrocortisone cream but it didnt hooked so I stopped it and just kept the areas dry and clean. headaches and other affects I did have at the start. Rarely now.
I hope the tablets work for you.
If they do work great but hope they dont give a reaction too.
There are different sorts of b12 to inject.
The benefits should outweigh any spots ect. At the time I was so ill the spots I got although bad didnt bother me.
The swelling youve had sounds more though. Not heard of the swelling
Hi, sorry to hear you're being bothered with acne, but as beginner 1 has stated, it's very common during and just after initial treatment with B12 Injections.
I had it too, it was a bit embarrassing as I've always been lucky to have a clear skin, but it eventually disappeared without any medication.
This is probably whats happening to you, so as Nackapan has also said, just be a bit wary of allowing the doctor to prescribe antibiotics and steroids which you may not require, as these drugs can cause problems in themselves..
It's horrible while it lasts, but I'm sure the acne will resolve by itself soon.
If your B12 deficiency is caused by Pernicious Anaemia and not diet related you need to politely fight your case to have regular injections reinstated.
There is a lot of advice on previous posts here from everyone who has had to do that.
