Hi everyone!
It's been a long time since I posted here - long story short I eventually found out I have secondary hypothyrodism which was the cause of my symptoms and low b12 and ferritin! I am currently again having problems with low ferritin due to a drop in thyroid levels and had a question about B12 that I thought it would be best to ask here!
My last blood tests showed:
Folate: 23.6 (2-17)
B12: 1017 (200-900)
Ferritin: 23 (15-250)
Haematocrit: 0.36 (0.37-47)
I was on injections last year for B12 but they were stopped. I was taking a 1000mcg sublingual back in early 2020. I took a 1000mcg sublingual on 30/06 so less than a month ago. Could this still be affecting my B12 levels? Previously I have ALWAYS had low B12 with low ferritin but I have also never had such high folate levels - my diet has not changed from when my folate was recorded as 8.8 a few months ago and my B12 was 1086 when I was on weekly 1000mcg sublinguals.
My endocrinologist has prescribed iron supplements but I am wondering if its ok to also take the B12 sublingual. Is there any issues with taking B12 with these serum levels and when on iron supplements?
Thank you!
