B12 levels on sublingual hydroxycobalamin.

Hi

I managed to get my serum levels up on sublingual b12 only. My last test is while still taking them daily. It's dropped a little but still high in the range.

My question is. If I'm able to raise my levels on sublinguals is there a need to still ask for injections or will I simply be told I'm crazy with such a level.

I still have bad fatigue, aching/weak arms and legs, tired eyes, burning skin, annoying tinnitus, light and noise bother me too.

Interestingly I just found out I have low vitamin D so I guess that's not helping either. (Started 2000iu of D3 daily on advice of lab doctor)

I can't imagine any doctor will prescribe injections with serum B12 above 500 pg/L.

519pmol/l is actually 703 pg/l

Obviously while still supplimenting daily but I'm guessing/hoping that's still good.

I keep reading about needing levels over 1000 for healing but surely 700pg must do good but maybe a little slower.

Who says you need levels over 1000?

If a conventional Dr doesn't prescribe a functional Dr probably would. Someone like Dr Sarah myhill. She usually goes by clinical picture not levels Steap .

In Jan my active b12 was >256 so I'm guessing it's getting to where it needs to go in theory.

You should be taking vitamin K2 with the vitamin D3 . Some thing to do with keeping calcium out of the arteries .

I am assuming that the sublingual is 1000mcg + - that's a very high dose - about 400xRDA so can result in enough getting through by passive absorption

1000 (pg/L?) is an average of where people who are being treated for PAS seem to find that they feel okay but this is a very specific population in very specific circumstances and is likely to be skewed by other factors. My levels seem to need to be permanently over twice that since receiving treatment. What matters is symptoms not test scores.

It isn't the amount in your blood that is important it is what is happening at the cell level.

Question really is whether the supplementation has aleviated the symptoms at all. High dose oral can work as a treatment for some people but as with most things to do with treating B12 absorption problems it is far from universal.

I'm actually using one half of a 1000mcg tablet daily.

That seems be be enough as I feel a little over stimulated on the full tablet.

What's really annoying is I know I was 146pg as long ago as 2012 and I did always feel tired but i was no where near like this. I held down a busy job, thought clearly, didn't have anxiety except during particularly stressful events like big meetings or inspections and most importantly was able to see without any issues. My heart felt normal and I drove all over.

Now I'm extremely tired, foggy, my eyes don't feel right, I'm anxious, light and noise bother me and my skin on my thigh burns.

I'm actually worse since starting the b12 but things were heading that way. That's why I paid for tests and then took it.

It's just so annoying when I compare my life one year ago to now.

You might be worse initially due to detox. Dr myhill says that this can happen when you start to power up the methylation cycle. Ps I find high dose ionic and transdermal magnesium really help anxiety. Its a relaxing mineral. Inositol is good too. My brain fog went on high dose b12,omega 3 and coenzyme q10.
