Update on Phone Consultation today.

Hi as promised I’ve just had my consult with a lovely professor endo.

He was very kind and patient and knowledgeable.Yes he was private but I felt it was well worth it because at long last I’m moving on.

I need so much investigated so he is writing to gp to arrange most of it via nhs.

Because of the reluctance of gp to refer me for sst test on nhs we decided it would be quicker to have it done in Oxford hospital.he will be there to oversee he said so that can be done around the 30th of this month rather than hanging around.I’ll need to pay for that but that’s ok.

He’s asked gp to do another dexa scan ,he’s said my cholesterol is too high,he said my blood glucose level is too high he’s concerned about my kidney stones and wants this investigated properly again,he said he’d like an updated b12 blood test done which I’ve told him will be high because I’m self injecting,He just said good that’ll give us nice high levels then.Hed also like 24 hour urinary glucose test and fasting blood glucose test done.

He said no hrt necessary no thyroid treatment necessary and no steroid treatments till we know exactly what we are dealing with.

I feel happier to at least have had the chance to talk to someone who seems to know his stuff and was so pleasant.

Not at all dismissive in any way.good result so far.just need to get a paper round now to pay for it 😂

That sounds very hopeful. Especially to have it all under one umbrella. Specialists just dont communicate to each other.

What's money without health !

I wish you well

Yes your right Nackapan that’s been the problem right from the start.

I think that considering I have a long boring history of ailments and this is my first consultation with him he’s did remarkably well really,at least it feels like someones joining the dots now to at least investigate.ty x

Thank you Ghound.i actually got my copy report emailed to me last night by his lovely secretary Valerie she is a gem too.

I’m going into manor hospital on the 30th as a day patient to have the sst test done and he’s said he’ll be there that day to monitor me which is really reassuring.

The cost of the sst test is not as scary as I thought £200 for anyone else who needs to know this and of course I’ll pay another consult fee afterwards to get the results and see how we will progress on.im so pleased so I just have to wait on a response to the consultants requests from my gp now for the other tests I hope he’s amenable he seems a really nice gp on the phone ,I’ve not met him yet.x

Glad to hear things are moving on for you. Needs a bit of a push to start ball rolling, doesn't it ? Keep us updated. Hope your GP keeps the momentum going.

Thank you Cherylclaire.yes it’s definately been a challenging time lol the gp said he had limited experience with this and he was happy to be guided by the consultant so I admired his honesty and as you say let’s hope he does as requested.xx
