What about kefir have you tried that? I can’t take probiotics either and I’ve never tried the lactose free ones, they may be better.

Yes I'm having that . I think just too much goodness for my gut to cope with!!

Hoping not to need more antibiotics as took 5 days to recover from last lot. Before that it was 2004. I've even made a note that they made me down and ill. I was well then .

Thanks

Symprove is a lactose free , water based probiotic . Unfortunately expensive , but very effective . Also good is organic , raw sauerkraut , obtainable from health food shops , or you can make it yourself .

I've read that probiotics can affect you for the first few days but generally people get accustomed to them. With that being said I'm by no means am expert on them but I started taking them recently without issue..

There are also many different kinds so it might just be finding the one that works for you .

You could also try a flaxseed mucilage by boiling water with flaxseed.. It creates a gel that supposedly helps keep your lining from damage. I did this when I had some stomach issues.. You cold drink this right before taking the antibiotic. It's a little gross to drink because of the consistency and a pain to make, but it could help. It's one of "grandma's" recipes.

What it is, benefits, and how to prepare:

My daughter with b12 deficiency/PA has powdered flaxseeds every day. She has digestive issues and needs the nutrients. She is fine on them. I will give her that link thanks.

It made me bloated and gave me stomach ache. Such a shame as full of goodness and omega 3 . I tried the capsules from Holland and Barret too.

So take omega 3 on it's own 2 or 3 times a week.

Perhaps simple plain live yoghurt enough ?? It was only to counteract the antibiotics to prevent thrush. Not to give me an upset stomach lol

Thankyou.

Flaxseeds I cant cope with but the gel different.

I'm 6 days after antibiotics. I'm having a day off probiotic to see.

Was this shop bought kefir? It's often not the real deal - something to do with being pasteurised and then bacteria re added? I know that on the facebook fermenting pages, such as UK fermenting friends, they recommend starting slowly with kefir, just a couple of teaspoons a day to begin with. I make mine at home using Grace coconut milk and have had the opposite effect ie instant cure for my perpetually upset stomach. Sounds like maybe it was just too much, too soon.

Yes maybe. It was only tk prevent thrush from amoxicillin. My gut normally okay. I think will just have plain live yoghurt.

Thanks

I took prebiotics for about four weeks. The whole time they caused bloating and constipation so I had to stop.

Yes I've stopped and my gut okay.

Glad it's feeling better now.🙂

To be honest I had the same gut issues when I tried CBD oil. I lasted three weeks before I had to stop that.

Probiotics can do upset stomach for short time. but it will balance itself.

Yes I think if you have gut issues it's a good thing. Mine was just a short term thing to try and prevent thrush from having to have antibiotics for a tooth.

Yes. its a good thing. i had abdominal pani 4 months ago and i was on heavy antibiotics. but it caused me cramps and painful bowel movements so i bought probiotic capsules and tried to take one cap per day after meal. and believe me it worked more than antibiotics. :)

Yes. My son takes them all the time as he has ibs. They are brilliant with antibiotics. In America they give them alongside antibiotics so as they settle the stomach.

I suppose everyone different. I ate the right things so the antibiotics caused me to feel down and I ached everywhere bit didnt upset my stomach! Directly I stopped the probiotics my stomach fine.

My daughter is benefiting. Her reflux rare now and her bloating and bowels so much better.

I seem to react to everything.

The baby dose (neurologist) 10mg amitriptyline not o ly couldnt be tolerated but took longer to get off than I wad on it??

Again my daughter had none of these problems. I'm sure these doses should be modified to weight as they are with children. Same goes for probiotics. Glad your son benefits

No I realise that.

I'm fine on live natural yoghurt

They were too much for me.

The first thing I noticed was an upset stomach !

Just too harsh for me .
