Refer to the latest BSH guidance as it clearly states that if patients begin to experience neurological symptoms they should contact their GP. As to the spray, some people benefit from it but others not. It does require careful storage, dark and cool.
In terms of the tablets - you don't have to limit yourself to 1 a day - so, you could try taking more, you could try combining with the spray. Providing it is only vitamin B12 it won't hurt to use it more frequently.
Experiments show that about 1% of a 1000 mcg sublingual dose is absorbed.
Experiments also show that about 1% of a 1000 mcg oral dose is absorbed.
But if 99% of the sublingual dose is swallowed then you'd expect 1% of that to be absorbed. So blood levels should rise twice as high with a sublingual dose. They don't.
The sensible explanation is that none of the sublingual dose is actually absorbed from the mouth. Instead it is all swallowed and becomes an oral dose.
Hello Mozza127. You definitely need the injections. tablets or anything taken orally. i.e. B12 rich food, will just not be absorbed. So many of us on here are going to self inject (I practised on an orange. Going to do it. My surgery will not give them to me. Do not suffer like you are, you are not alone. We are all here to help each other. Read other peoples posts and see how many of us are the same and are either self injecting already or are going to do it. Good Luck. briarhillcat
