my partner bought me the B12 mouth spray - apricot flavour! Up to 4 sprays a day. Do you think it will have any effect? Have you tried it?
B12 Mouth Spray: my partner bought me... - Pernicious Anaemi...
B12 Mouth Spray
I have tried mouth and nose spray ( and patches) They did not help me a bit . But we read on this forum that they do help some P.A. patients . Mostly given as a “ boost “ between injections . Worth giving it a trial though .
Hi,
I think this is your first post on the forum so welcome.
Have you been diagnosed with PA and/or B12 deficiency?
If you suspect B12 deficiency and haven't been tested by GP yet, taking B12 supplements could make it difficult to get a diagnosis.
Although some forum members manage by using just oral B12 tablets and sprays, many find that injections work best.
I'm assuming you're in UK. Let me know if you're not.
What to do next if B12 deficiency suspected
If you have a PA diagnosis or suspect you have PA, it's worth joining and talking to PAS.

Based in Wales, UK. Has overseas members.

If you're in UK, have a look at the new NICE B12 deficiency guideline.
Try to find the local B12 deficiency guidelines that your ICB (Integrated Care Board) or Health Board are using.
I left a detailed reply in thread below.

I'm not a health professional.
If you have PA it will have little effect at stated dose. I tried a similar product and kept increasing the dose until a trace appeared in my urine - proof of absorption - and that was 30 squirts, 10 times the dose, or 25000µg a day. It's a good thing methylcobalamin is totally non-toxic.
A bottle that was supposed to last 3 months was gone in 12 days. I didn't do a long-term evaluation because I found a supply of hydroxocobalamin ampoules for injection.
I have used hte mouth spray, 4 sprays a day isn't enough, I used to take 12 sprays a day - 4 in the morning, 4 mid-day, and 4 in hte evening. It definitely helped; not as good as the injections, but it did help.
I am not a doctor, this is not meant as medical advice, YMMV
I tried it to have fewer injections. Didn't work for me.
A good boost if your low b12 is due to dietary reasons as a supplement if you cw absorb it.
