Hi, i am looking for some advice regarding my recent test results. I am new to all of this but have been poorly for almost 3 years. I have tried so hard to get my GP listen to me. I took it into my own hands and got private tests done ans heres what my results are.
Ferritin - 21ug/l
Transferrin saturation - 23%
Iron - 14.6 umol
Folate - 9.5 nmol
B12 active - 61 pmol
B12 total - 264 pmol
Vitamin D - 44 nmol
Does anybody know if im lacking in anything and does any of this explain the neurological symptoms ive had for almost 3 years now? Ive been very unwell, fatigued and depressed.
If anyone can help i would be greatful. Thank you. 😊

The thing that jumps put at me is your ferritin. Anything below 50 can cause symptoms in some. I was told by a doctor. Although above 10 is deemed normal. Within range. Vitamin d is also low .
You can take vitamin d 1000iu a day. (Csn go higher) loading doses are sometimes prescribed by doctors.
You heed to speak to your doctor about taking iron.
A multivit usually has about 14 mg in it.
200mcg of folic acid in a multivit.
Up to 400mcg a day okay for
women.
9 is in range I believe for folate
If b12 total is serum b12 test its usually in range. Shoukd be given figures of what is in range on your blood form result.
I dont understand the other results .
Keep going ti the doctor with your symptom list. Even better write in the current situation. Get a telephone consult to follow letter.
From personal experience I know it is possible to have severe B12 deficiency with in range B12 results.
I wrote a very detailed reply on another forum thread with links to symptoms lists, causes of b12 deficiency, info about PA tests, B12 books, B12 websites, UK B12 documents and other B12 info which you might find helpful.
