Hi Everyone,

I've just seen this on PAS website.

It mentions that PAS has written to all four Ministers for Health in UK.

pernicious-anaemia-society....

It also has a link to info on what to do if B12 jabs have been stopped due to closed surgeries, B12 jabs being considered non-essential etc.

Good luck to everyone who's struggling to get their jabs.

Glad to see that somebody is telling the government what's happening.

Reading the "What you can do" page, I wonder how many people will try options 3 to 7 and find that they work. Meaning they can do without injections at all.

I noticed that they are asking for people who are willing to speak to the media about this matter to get in touch with them.

What are jabs?

Injections.

Are you UK-based ?

Some people in the UK have recently had their appointments for regular injections of B12 cancelled as "non-urgent" by their doctor during the coronavirus crisis. It is also becoming more difficult to order B12 from Germany, as some suppliers will no longer ship B12 to UK.

This, as you can imagine, is causing unnecessary additional stress to people who are already expressing concerns about whether because of their condition, they are any more likely to get coronavirus or whether if they contract it, it will prove more difficult to shrug off.

The answer to that would probably be "No, not if their B12 deficiency is being, and continues to be, properly addressed. "

Not that I'm a medically-trained person, just a common-or-garden woodwork teacher.

Stay safe .

I'm in toronto Canada and luckily have the option of getting B12 injections through the public, private system or can purchase B12 and needles from the pharmacy to self inject.

I cant imagine what people are going through that cant access this! Currently I'm going through a big flare up due to breastfeeding and have to self inject quite frequently to abait the neuropathy. I would probably have a little meltdown if I was cut off.

I hope things workout over there! People done understand unless they have PAS

It seems very weird : everyone here seems to be stockpiling food to the point of ridiculousness: don't they realise yet that:

1) they are putting themselves (and family) at massive risk by close queuing with strangers

2) they won't be able to eat any of this food if they got coronavirus

3) they are leaving more vulnerable people (and NHS shiftworkers) without supplies

4) they are wearing out unprotected frontline staff in supermarkets

5) they are pushing up prices in smaller shops where unscrupulous owners are looking for a quick profit: nappies, disinfectant or painkillers, they are not bothered

....in the meantime, we are more worried about everyone getting their regular B12 injections:

1) despite surgeries cancelling B12 injections as "non-urgent"

2) despite Germany being less able to cater for our needs, and some German sources stopping UK deliveries altogether

3) despite being unable to share - as we are only able to order for personal use and could leave ourselves open to litigation

4) despite still needing to eat like everyone else

It is a question of priorities - and if your main concern is B12 right now, would that not be sufficient proof of just how urgent this treatment is ?

Let's hope so.

I will send a letter of support tomorrow to my local surgery, which has remained open, but will also ask them to ensure that those needing B12 injections are not considered as "non-urgent" patients. I no longer get NHS injections myself - and have my own supply.

Do what you need to do for you and your baby, Nicksi - wishing you a happy Mothers' Day ! Stay very safe.
