Interesting. I can’t figure out how gut bacteria might influence B12 requirements. I wonder if the chemical differences they found might influence the bacteria that can live in our guts.

It might be that the differences in bacteria in the stool samples were caused by differences in exposure to B12, rather than the other way round.

A good point.

Some B12 will be excreted in the bile. Presumably higher amounts pumped into the body will result in higher amounts in the bile and some bacteria will benefit more than others.

This is great news! Have tried spacing injections out further than 1 every other day- and can't (yet) without deteriorating to the point that others notice changes. Don't reply- save your arm- just wanted to say that this gives me some hope, even though no reason (eg: PA) has been given for my B12 deficiency- so cannot take part in any research.
