Does b12 irritate your bladder?

I have pernicious anemia and interstitial cystitis. Recently I have been having a flare of frequent urinating and pressure. Has any not had a similar issue. Do you think it’s related to my weekly injections?

you certainly pee out the excess of vitamin B12 as it is water soluble but whether it causes pressure I would be dubious. it may be you feeling your bladder getting full?

Perhaps drink more water and see if that helps. Barley water is helpful.

The colour will be different with all the supplements you are on.

I dont know but I woyldnt have thought b12 would affect your condition. If in doubt the nurse hopefully will know.

Yes and coincidentally I did slow down with water. Trying to drink more. Thank you

I have IC, too, and I wondered the same thing. I sometimes take oral B12 (methylcobalamin) and sometimes it does seem to cause an IC flare-up. But I'm not 100% sure. From what I read online, it's not supposed to do that, but who knows.

Interesting I was told that it could be a bladder irritant and saw some articles online that said the same. Not easy having pernicious anemia and IC

Nope, I bet it isn't. I don't have pernicious anemia, but I am always low on B12 and I have a lot of chronic health problems including several autoimmune diseases. So I am in a similar boat as you are. And, yeah, it is NOT easy. :)
