When and how should I recheck my b12 levels

Hi Everyone,

I was diagnosed with b12 on Nov 10 th and receiving injections since then. My levels were less than 150. When should I do the retest for b12 to further decide the frequency of b12 . And what should be the gap between blood test and my b12 shot , so that my b12 shot doesn’t skew the results of b12.

B12 absorption problems should not be managed by using serum B12 levels - the test becomes difficult if not impossible to interpret once injections are started - so save your money. People vary considerably in how long it takes to remove B12 - may be months but there are cases in the literature of it taking 4 years. The injections themselves can also affect the levels at which people need to feel well quite significantly - Go by symptoms to decide the frequency of treatment if you can.

Do you suggest the same for vitamin d deficiency?
