Restless legs

Does anyone else suffer from restless legs? I’ve had this issue since before I found I had B12 deficiency and I don’t know if it’s connected. I have vitamin D deficiency too, no idea whether that’s relevant either.

Don't know about the implications of VitD deficiency but restless legs is a potential result of B12 deficiency, though there are also a lot of other things that can cause restless legs, including some drug interactions. Sometimes it just seems to happen with no identifiable cause. If it continues to bother you then suggest you mention it to your GP.

It happens to me when my iron is low. My iron is my archilies heel.

I've had relatively mild RLS for years. There's a tie to low levels of iron, which is often seen in PA. Have you had your ferritin checked? Mine isn't severe enough to require treatment, but fairly low dose codeine or other opioids can be quite effective, I understand. They also use dopamine agonists like pramipxexole but these can lead to worsening symptoms beginning earlier in the day. Definitely suggest checking the iron.

Thanks, I think iron was one of the things my GP checked but I don’t know what the result was so I’m assuming they thought it was ok. I’ve got an appointment with GP after Christmas so I’ll ask then.

Look at the protocol are you taking magnesium? It will help with both vit d and b12 absorption, magnesium, potassium and iron deficiencies are all associated with restless leg type issues good luck 😊

No, I’m not taking magnesium. Thanks for that advice.

I started to get restless legs and was-told to drink a glass of tonic water( it contains Quinine). It did the trick for me.

I sip a small glass in the evening when I get/ have the symptoms.

There are some serious side effects of quinine water, please check the link. huffpost.com/entry/quinine-...

Not in the amounts that are in Tonic Water 20mg.

As opposed to 200 to 300 that was being prescribed

For restless legs.

Yes, I was troubled with that but since taking multi vitamins, D3 and folic acid (folic is every second day)....as well as Vit B12 jab every 4 weeks, it is just about gone. Not really sure why, but I have also started walking a bit every day, so maybe it's accumulation . Hope it resolves too Yogijo x
