I keep getting urinary infections.I have had 6 this year and feel I am now getting another one.

My Gp keeps giving me antibiotics but return about a month after I have finished the course.

I had a cystoscope at the beginning of the year and was told all is ok.

Has any other ladies had this problem.I am getting really fed up now.

Ask your GP for a referral to an appropriate Consultant. And is there any infection there or, are you suffering from interstitial cystitis? Whatever, this situation cannot continue and it needs sorting.

Hi Chocolate41, I have been receiving three monthly injections for approx 20 yrs but was never given loading doses. I started having frequent urine/kidney infections about eight yrs ago getting increasingly more severe and like you constantly on antibiotics also getting stronger! I eventually started taking cranberry tablets whenever I felt the first slight symptoms and also injecting myself every 4 wks with vit B12 and now very rarely get these infections and rarely do they get bad enough to incapacitate me and need anti biotics. Good luck.

Hi

I have B12 injections every 6 weeks. The docs would only let me have them 12weekly so I inject in between seems to work for me.

As for the urinary infections I am cutting out citrus fruit and anything with sorbitol in it and coffee. Will have to see how I go.

Thankyou

Hi, it looks like no one has adressed the Problem... UTI's are from bacteria... that gets into that area. Also anti bodies are good for serious stuff, we don't want to take them over and over, our body will adjust and they wont work..

from google:

Seven methods for treating UTIs without antibiotics

Stay hydrated. Drinking water regularly may help to treat a UTI. ...

Urinate when the need arises. ...

Drink cranberry juice. ...

Use probiotics. ...

Keifer is better than yougart

Get enough vitamin C. ...

Wipe from front to back. ...

Practice good sexual hygiene.

I have started taking d mannose to treat and prevent uti’s as I think it was long term use of anti biotics which may have caused my b12 deficiency initially. I recently had another infection and when prescribed an anti biotic I noticed warnings on the leaflet about absorption of b vitamins when taking them. The d mannose seems to have stopped a further infection so am hopeful I can manage without the antibiotics for good! Good luck with whatever you decide x
