Hi sorry to be a bother again but last photo would enlarge so posting again if u could possibly spare a minute to look please. GP surgery said normal but they said that jan 2012 I think when my B12 was 173 and I was already having neurological problems with gait, stomach and lower spine. Told Parkinsonism then not and so on then started on madopar and then told by podiatrist that b12 deficient severe neuro problems by now walking shuffling running body spasms plus so many other problems. Started on b12 every other day by doctor but doubled on madopar by neuro. Anyway mine is a long story like so many others. Shown videos to specialists of my movements and get the old eye roll 🙄 so just checking if my bloods are normal had a fbc but could not fit in whole photo. Many thanks for reading take care all.

1 st learn how to read your blood test, so many are saying normal but it is NOT...

you can have too much B12 and the body not absorbing it,,, need other stuff to absorb it,

also i see you have large blood cells, makes it hard to move thru and give oxygen,

the body is Amazing and when one thing is wrong, it probly means some thing is also wrong... keep looking you will find the answer.

I have low iron, b3,b9,b12 and Large blood cells, all this makes me tired & cranky...

Lets Learn..

Your Thyroid FT4 result is on the floor. This is the hormone produced by the thyroid and is a storage hormone doing very little in the body. It needs to convert into the Active hormone -T3 which was not tested - Sigh ! T3 is needed in every one of the trillions and trillions cells in the body. The brain has first call on T3 followed by the gut and heart. If your FT3 reading was also low then I would suggest you may have Central Hypothyroidism where the Pituitary Gland is at fault. It may be advisable to have thyroid anti-bodies checked to rule out Hashimotos.

With a FT4 as low as yours - the Pituitary Gland should be pumping out more TSH to make the thyroid produce more T4. That is not happening. Optimal levels of Ferritin - Folate - VitD are needed for your thyroid hormones to work well. Are you taking VitD ?.

I have Hashimotos and a B12 issue caused by surgery 🤔

Thank you Marz I will see GP on Monday and ask for those tests if no joy will go through medichecks which I seen on thyroid site. Yes i do take Vit D 2000 daily plus an A-Z multivitamin/mineral and boots 800 of folic acid for my Parkinson’s/Parkinsonism I take various meds. Also at the moment I’m taking 500 mg of penicillin x 4 a day as the glands in my throat are really swollen and causing lots of pain.

Am afraid the T3 is very rarely tested in the NHS . Medichecks have Special Offers on Thursdays. What was your VitD test result before supplementing ? Multi-vits often have fillers and things you do not need. Does it contain iron ? - which needs to be taken well away from thyroid meds. Often not enough of anything and if you increase then its possible you could overdose. Best to test before supplementing as dose can often depend on results. VitK2-MK7 & Magnesium ? Important co-factors with VitD ..

Thyroid inflammation could possibly be causing the pain. Do you have Hashimotos ?

Morning Marz. I’m sorry for the late reply. Well I was prescribed high dosage of Vit D off GP about 5 years ago but he stopped them but not my B12. The multivitamin does contain iron 14 mg 100% NRV. I have Had my thyroid results back from Medichecks and upon doctors review they are in normal range.

Inflammation 0.38 range 0-5 mg/L

Ferritin 77.4 range 30-400ug/L

Folate serum 13.07 range 3.89-19.45ug/L

Vit B12 active 150 range 37.5-187.5pmol/L

Vit D 71.1 range 50-175nmol/L

Thyroid

TSH 0.653 range 0.27-4.2 mIU/L

Free T3 5.41 range 3.1-6.8 pool/L

Free thyroxine 14.3 range 12-22 pool/L

Autoimmunity

Thyroglobulin antibodies 11.6 range 0-116 kIU/L

Thyroid peroxidase antibodies 9 range 0-34 kIU/L

So as the medichecks dr informed me I’m all in range but reading these results myself I feel ferritin and Vit D bit on low side. Also doing some research on my GP blood results after being told there perfectly normal but I have in bold letters on printout that red blood cell width HIGH this combined with a normal mcv can suggest a deficiency in iron, B12 or folate or may also indicate chronic liver disease so now worried 😟

Red blood cell width 15.8 range 11-14.8

MCV 90 fl range 80-100

Many thanks for reading and your help 👍

Have only just seen your Reply ! Clicking onto Reply below a post ensures the person receives an alert 🤔

Your thyroid results do indicate the thyroid is beginning to struggle as the FT4 is better towards the top of the range. Was it an early morning test after fasting ?

Anti-bodies low which rules out Hashimotos.

Ask GP for a Full Iron Profile to rule out Iron Deficiency . Ferritin around mid-range is often suggested for good thyroid function.

Which Multi-vit are you taking ?

VitD - I would buy your own on-line - 2500 iu's in a gel capsule containing olive oil as D is fat soluble. They are not expensive. Don't forget the co-factors mentioned above ...

Do post these results on the Thyroid Forum for further comment - if you wish ...

Morning Marz and thank you for reply. It was fasted and taken at 0930. I am using a Tesco A-Z multivitamins & minerals as recommended by someone on another post. On top of prescribed 2000iu vitd I’m now using better you Dlux+ VitD+k2 spray. Will post my results on thyroid forum and see GP get full iron profile thank you 🙏

The Multi you are taking contains mostly calcium and this binds to iron and prevents good absorption. The Magnesium oxide is the least absorbable - there are better ones. As mentioned daily on Thyroid UK it is better to supplement vitamins and minerals individually to ensure the right amount and ensure good quality.

The Multi also contains Biotin and can skew results. Always stop it a week before blood tests. Biotin used in Lab tests - sorry don't know full facts but someone on Thyroid UK will explain.

Thanks again Marz did read up about the biotin and did stop before Medichecks test. I do take magnesium citrate in the evening before bed and a magnesium bath occasionally. 🙏

Marz in reply toTaff178

Great ! But your Ferritin could be low due to the multi-vit having calcium as its greatest ingredient - first on the list. If you are taking individual supplements - why take the Multi ?

Taff178 in reply toMarz

Was just a post I read on this forum and even said no point buying expensive brand they use Tesco multi didn’t realise the implications.

Marz profile image
Marz in reply toTaff178

For some, that may work but it hasn't for you as your Ferritin and D3 are still low. Multi-vits may work for maintenance but do not resolve deficiencies ... they also contain ingredients that are not good. You can check the ingredients on-line if the print is too small ! I did 🥰
