Gastroscopy

Hello everyone,

I am having this heart palpitation after eating a meal from the last 7 months now. Cardiologist checked my heart (ECG,ECHO, HOLTER) everything came fine. Went to gut specialist and he requested a gastroscopy to see my oesophagus ,stomach and duodenum.

Went for gastroscopy today and the oesophagus and stomach is totally fine (no ulcer or anything) but the endoscopist couldn't find duodenum :O. She was saying there must be an unsual anatomy and told me that specialist will look into this. I don't know if she was a newbie OR there is something going on with me.

Has anyone come accross something like this?

I have similar symptoms and would love to know the cause. Ive had echo and 24hr holter monitor done, endoscopy and colonoscopy (for coeliac gastro test reasons) too but nothing to explain why. All I know is, if we lack acid then maybe it's our gut working harder to digest our food? Let me know how you get on?

I have also been experiencing something similar lately: from about mid-May, almost every day and night.

Feels like certain positions bring it on: leaning forward (eating at coffee table, cleaning teeth) or leaning back (bath or bed). Wakes me up in the night/ early hours too with a start.

It feels like my heart's thumping upwards to my pulse-point in my neck (left side).

Does this sound like what you are experiencing ?

I'm going to my GP next week about it - and will let you know results in case it helps.

I do know that I have a duodenum- gastroscopy showed "flattened mucosal pattern in D1 and D2" (so checked for coeliac disease - negative) and "patchy gastric metaplasia", which has never really been explained to me.

I would not worry too much - being unable to find something does not mean it does not exist (pernicious anaemia diagnosis springs immediately to mind !)

Wait for the specialist, hope they don't leave you waiting long.

Very best of luck.
