GP = general practitioner - basically a doctor who is a generalist.

PA = pernicious anaemia -

pernicious-anaemia-society....

it is the most common cause of non-dietary B12 deficiency.

IMINHIM - suggest that you try not to use capitals all the time - it can come across as shouting to some people. I know that sometimes it can be difficult to switch to lower case but if you can it would be helpful

ok no capitals

listen demylination of the nerves can be a lack of b12----?????

Gambit62 profile image
Gambit62Administrator in reply to IMINHIM

could be B12, could be folate and think it could also be other things which could include MS

Do you know if she actually has demylenation or if she has the symptoms of demylenation?

Predisone did the same to me, and I was able to actually cure myself. Unlike others you may encounter here, I am med free, pain free, and able to feel my feet, the PA issues are gone and I am symptom free! Had I listened to my Drs , Id be a med dependent cripple...if still alive!

Sorry to hear about the situation. If there has been nerve damage, from demyelination, getting B12 and folic acid may help but the pain may increase initially as the signals get stronger on the nerves. It depends on the extent of the nerve damage. Repair is very slow once the cause of the damage is eliminated. Some damage, if it has reached the axon, is permanent.

I’m not medically trained but I’m recovering from nerve damage and memory loss due to an undiagnosed B12D.

I’m on B12 injections weekly and am holding stable.

Is she vegetarian? B12 naturally comes from meat and folate comes from green vegetables.

B12 Supplements are taken by people on a vegetarian to prevent a B12 deficiency.

Folic acid is typically over the counter medication and should not be more than 5 mg per day. But get the B12 sorted out first.

Start a list of all her symptoms and have her try to make her own assessment of the severity. Pain, anxiety, depression are all either neurological or psychological symptoms from nerve damage.

Gentle exercises to move muscles, not to build strength, stimulates the nerves associated with those muscles. The stimulations trigger the nerve repair when conditions are right.

Any diet issues (gas, wind, diarrhea) with wheat flour (bread, puri, chepati, roti, etc)? This is gluten protein and can cause issues in the intestines to lead to B12D. Milk (yogurt, ghee, butter, raita, etc) has the casein protein which is similar to gluten. For me, I became intolerant when I started on B12 injection. Maybe I was already intolerant and it lead to my B12D.

Rice, vegetables, fruit, lintels (dahl), millet (ragi) do not have gluten protein.

How about acidic drinks like tomato, orange juice, vinegar? I’m these can help if there is too low stomach acid from medications.

Has any test of the stomach for heliobacter-pylori bacteria infection? Been done? Any endoscopy?

B12D typically arises from some damage to the hepatic loop ( stomach surgery, duodenum ulcer, bile duct gall bladder, liver, small intestine, ilium is the last portion of the small intestine and the portal vein from the intestine to the liver. ). The loss of acid or intrinsic factor (IF) in the stomach from damage to the parietal cells or antibody attacking the IF or parietal cells.

Any recent anesthesia like nitrous oxide? This is toxic to B12.

my wife is a beautiful 66 years old---we have been married 50 years----she has decided to go to heaven----only because of the pain----the doctors are calling this vasculitis--which is a demylination disease------but if you look it up----the neuropathy is caused by the pregnisone------the medication---which causes the lack of B 12----shecan no longer handle the medications-----rheumatoid arthritis----for 20 years---the medicines have taken their toll----I believe the b12 treatments in high doses would help---but shedoesnt believe this---and not willing to do it-------I am very angry----this should not be-----the medicine kills-----please tell me how can this be-----in todays medicine the best we can hope for are medicines that end up killing us in the end------pathetic----im angry------

PA is not a disease you can cure.

There is no such thing as 'detox cleansing' unless you mean using a dialysis machine.

I'm sorry fbirder you misundetstood my post. I stated I had heavy metal poisoning, they do not detox heavy metal poisoning through kidney dialysis they detox it through a process called chelation. Also they do not detox arsenic poisoning through kidney dialysis it's also through chelation. B12 is a part of chelation therapy and B12 deficiency is a part of heavy metal poisoning. Chelation is a form of detoxification. You might want to do a little research on that since you've never heard of it. Heavy metals can cause demylination of the nerves in the body and spine causing neuropathy to any part or parts of the body as well as cause organs to function improperly. Maybe your country don't have any heavy metals but here it is quite an epidemic with many people not aware it could be apart of their problem. While some Drs here will treat children for it most Drs don't even check for it in adults. When I found a dr to run the test for me I found many financially affluent people there getting treated for this but the regular everyday struggling person don't even think about asking to be tested for this. Insurance doesn't pay for it. Another thing I found out during my treatments was a lot of people with B12 deficiency and neuropathy had limes which also kept them from healing until it was treated.

While PA may never be cured the blood cells can normalize to healthy cell when the B12 and supporting nutrients are kept at sufficient levels.

In that case you're on the wrong forum.
