Hi Emmy1991 Please don't worry for a start - that's the first thing

You might get a "funny" metallic taste in your mouth and your heart might start to flutter for a moment or two but this is quite normal. You might have a slight headache afterwards or you might develop a skin rash or there might be a sore spot around the injection site.

Or on the other hand you might not have any of the above reactions - I've only listed them because you asked what possible side effects there might be and no two people are the same.

It is also not uncommon for some of your symptoms to appear to get worse before they get better as the B12 starts to get to work repairing any damage done to your nervous system but again this is not something to worry overmuch about.

On the other hand you will find some symptoms will "disappear" quite quickly and you'll feel like you are walking on air.

I've been having B12 injections for 45 years and I'm still "clivealive" at 75.

I wish you all the very best for the future.

Hi Emmy1991. Nice one from clivealive 😀. Just wanted to say don't worry...you'll be fine.

As clivealive says, some people do get side effects - but I didn't get any at all.

The B12 might cause a slight ache when it goes in, especially if it's been kept in the fridge, but it's done very quickly. Sometimes I feel it go in...sometimes I don't.

And my goodness...you wait until all those nasty tricky symptoms start to disappear...and you get your energy back...eureka 😄.

So don't worry and good luck for Tuesday 👍

I don't have a problem with needles as long as I don't see them so that wasn't a problem for me. It all depends who does it really some nurses are really good and you hardly notice a thing. .and other are abit more careful and take longer so it can be a Lil uncomfortable. I clench my fist together that also helps. I do find that if I'm due on I seem to be more sensitive to the sensation but after a couple you get use to it no problem. I don't appear to have any side effects

..more of on going b12 symptoms..It all depends on how early you find out you are deficient. And how much treatment you get verses what you actually need.. keep a symptom diary if your not feeling like you should go back and ask for more be prepared for a battle it took me two years to get mine down to eight and they won't budge no more. .In the end I ended up Self injecting as I was to..Worried to let my symptoms get worse..I didn't feel right and wasn't prepared to take them on face value by telling me I was just stressed..I do it just under the skin with a little insulin needle not a problem...anyways as far as the injection you'll be fine ...best of luck x

The injection can be a little sore though personally I've not found it too bad. I do warm up the liquid though before the injection to make it less viscous though I'm not sure it that helps.

As for side affects, I've not experienced anything on getting the injection but the B12 symptoms do tend to get worse for a few days after the injection...then I start to feel normal again. The loading doses which I first had in 2013 were a revelation. You don't realise how bad you were feeling until you start to get better.

Good luck!

I think the biggest "side effect" is you will probably start to get better and feel well again!

Make sure you get enough jabs and possibly supporting supplements (a broad spectrum multivitamin and mineral supplement plus extra folate, potassium and magnesium, maybe iron) to maintain the improvement.

Good luck!

Every time I have had a b12 shot my energy levels shoot up and most if not all my aches and pains disappear!

Having said that when it goes in it's quite uncomfortable.. oh and I hate hate hate needles!!! I only manage to take them because a trusted friend does it for me and takes the risk of me freaking out lol 😂
