I’ve been having b12 injections for 2 years now after being diagnosed with a deficiency. I had the loading doses to start with now have one every 3 month. This has made me feel better. I had my injection a week ago and feel even worse than I did before. Very tired and feel ill, can it sometimes make you feel worse before better

Hi Elleeee It is not uncommon for some symptoms to appear to get worse before they get better as the B12 you are having starts repairing the damage done to your nervous system and your brain starts getting multiple messages from part of the body it had "forgotten about" or lost contact with.

However it is a bit surprising if this is the first time you have had this experience after two years. Was your B12 injection a different make or type from previous?

Could there be another cause for you feeling ill - like a 'flu infection?

I am not a medically trained person.

Thanks for replying. No it wasn’t any different I just hope it does work eventually. I don’t think so no I just feel so exhausted and physically drained

Don’t forget that taking your folic acid supplement is also important .
