Best private b12 test

Hi all. I’ve coeliac disease and bile acid malabsorption. The meds I’m on for the BAM require a yearly blood test for B12 (along with other water soluble vitamins). Mine came back 360 for B12. I thought this was fine (took GP at their word) but have read elsewhere that the GP serum test is unreliable. I’m exhausted a lot of the time, near continuous mouth sores and my sleep is really fractured so would like to double check. I’m so tired with nagging the docs (the above diagnoses came on the back of literally decades of being told “just IBS”) so very happy just to do it privately to set my mind at rest. But should I go for active B12 or MMA (urine or blood?)? Thanks in advance.

Tillyxx - suggest that if you have been having annual tests for a while you look at what the trend is on those results - if it is reducing then it would indicate an absorption problem that is developing slowly and would be better treated with injections now rather than waiting until you fall off the bottom of the normal range - if it is steady then it would suggest that B12 isn't really the problem

Hi gambit. No this was my first (started the meds a few months ago). But I do have a vague memory of a b12 result pretty similar a few years ago while they were checking for coeliac. Thank you.
