Hello!

Does anyone have thoughts on the best form of B12 injections - methylcobalamin, cyancobalamin, hydroxocobalamin or others?

Different people respond in different ways

Not understood why

Only way of knowing what works best for you is to try.

I use hydroxo/cyano injections, methyl/hydroxo nasal spray, adenosyl sublinguals

I am new to this, but does it matter what your serum b-12 level is for treatment when you have neurological symptoms? I read it’s evey other day for two weeks, then weekly until symptoms improve. Monthly, long term if you have an absorption issue? I am in the US and I got this info from the UK. I have had 3 years of this with no diagnosis till last week. I have been dismissed by my GP and GI Dr, even after diagnosis. I want to have all my ducks in a row for my hematologist appointment.

Nanc72, suggest that you start a new thread for your question - ie start a new post rather than put your question on what is a relatively old post.

Protocols in the US can be very different from those in the UK.

Treatment should't be dependent on serum B12 levels. It should be based on symptoms, and there is a more aggressive protocol where the patient has neurological symptoms.

Sorry, I will do that next time. Thank you for the information. It’s very much appreciated.

There's no good reason why any one form should work better than any other form. Once they enter the cell, all forms are equal.

There may be differences in what happens before they enter the cell. So cyanocobalamin is filtered out by the kidneys better than hydroxocobalamin. So blood levels will reduce more rapidly. Methylcobalamin seems to have some rotten side-effects in some people.

I’ve had all three at different times over the past 10 years. For me, they work the same. Initial reaction by the body to getting the B12 is slightly different.
