Hi dear people, my dad has been fighting with anxiety, depression, panic disorder....for a long time. After reading online we have suspected that his symptoms are caused by PA. He started self injecting with 1200 mcg every month for 3 years now. He has also been taking sublingual b12 very every few months for a month approximately. Since his depression worsend he has taken about 3000 mcg injection this month and drank b12 tablets almost every day, or every other, alongside b complex. His blood work just came and we are very worried because we read that elevated b12 indicates serious health problems. However, all of his other blood tests are fine, CRP, too. He just feels weak all the time, and we don't know anymore is it depression. He has also began to notice much higher levels of anxiety after the night he took b12 shot, he hasn't been this anxious in his life. If you have any advice or simmilar experience, please comment. Do you think he just overdosed on the vitamin and is it possible to have all the other blood work and CRP normal and have some illness, or is it just harmless overdose on the vitamin. And is it possible for high vitamin b12 to make his anxiety much worse??? Thank you in advance...

When injecting B12 you expect levels to be high.

High levels of B12 without supplementation are associated with some disease states. But the high B12 is caused by the disease, not the other way around.

High doses of B12 have never been found to be harmful - stichtingb12tekort.nl/weten...

People being treated for cyanide poisoning are given doses of B12 2,000 times higher than those your father is taking.

Hi Musicmochi we cannot "overdose" on Vitamin B12 as any excess is excreted via our urine and your Dad's level at 1400 is not that high.

What form of B12 is your Dad injecting - cyanocobamalin? Hydroxocobamalin?

Was your Dad's Folate level tested in the "blood work" recently?

HI musicmochi, I am definitely no expert but there are different kinds of b12 & I found I got severe anxiety symptoms after I had the methylcobalamin b12 but had no problems with hydroxocobalamin & cyanocobalamin. My Dr couldn't explain why but the anxiety disappeared when I cut out the methyl.
