thanks gambit 62 and foggyme -sorry to have bothered you with many queries . i have just one last question . vitamin b 12 should be bound to TC 2 for myelin repair ? b 12 bound to tc 2 enters the cells but for myelin repair on the nerves can it diffuse straight from haptocorrins ? any clarification on this would be much appreciated -thanks in advance

B12 bound to haptocorrin is destined to be stored in the liver. It isn't involved in the processes that run in and around cells.

Although myelin is the coating that insulates nerve cells it is maintained by processes that run in cells.

thanks a lot .i'm planning to get total and active b 12 tests soon .Hopefully hydroxo can quench all the excess nitric oxide .

Hydroxocobalamin does nothing to nitric oxide. Which is fortunate as NO is a vital messenger in the body.

Sorry, but why is it fortunate, that nitric oxide isn't affected by Hydroxycobalamin? Just wondering about the connection.

Because nitric oxide is an important chemical messenger in the human body. It's important for many functions. Here's a list of some... dermnetnz.org/topics/nitric...

So you wouldn't want to remove it from the body.

do you mean nitrous Oxide N2O.? That is not the same as nitric Oxide NO

Excess nitrous oxide does cause demylination of the sheath

Excess nitrous oxide will mop up any B12 it finds. That can lead to a precipitous drop in B12 levels, which can lead to demyelination. I do t think it has a direct effect.

What is TC2?, what is heptocorin? Any way to control whereto b12 is bound?

B12 in the blood is bound to two different proteins - haptocorrin (HC) and transcobalamin (TC). Only the TC-B12 can enter the cells. Nobody is quite sure what the function is of the HC-B12 and why most of the B12 in the blood is in that form (about 80%).

There's no way to change what the B12 binds to. As long as there's enough TC about (and it's very, very rare for that not to be the case - and it's usually picked up in infancy) then everything should be fine.

but some doctors /scientists in US treat cyanide toxicity or nitric oxide excess or carbon monoxide toxicity with hydroxocobalamin .Hydroxo is the standard b 12 used in cyanide toxicity / medical litterature says hydroxo reacts chemically with cyanide , nitri coxide and carbon monoxide. just wondering .

It is used for cyanide poisoning.

It’s been suggested that it may help with CO poisoning, but I don’t think it’s been tried in humans. And it didn’t do anything in rats. scholarscompass.vcu.edu/cgi...

I’ve never heard of it being used for nitric oxide. People hominhale too much nitric oxide tend to suffer problems in the lungs before the NO gets into he blood. That’s because NO becomes oxidised to NO2 hich dissolves in the water in the lungs to form nitric acid.

I suggest taking anything you read on a certain website with a large bucket of salt. They tend to look at the headlines and extrapolate with no real basis in fact.
