Is hair loss another symptom of PA? If so, is it reversible once you are treated with B 12 injections?

One of my main reasons for visiting the dr before being diagnosed with low B12 (102) was due to hair loss and not feeling myself. I can already see new growth after six months so 🤞 it continues

hair loss and hair thinning are potential symptoms of B12 deficiency. I didn't have hair loss but I did have thinning of hair which has thickened up again quite well now that I get the B12 I need.

There are a lot of other things that can cause hair loss though - such as iron deficiency and thyroid problems which can often occur in conjunction with PA

Yes, it is one of the symptoms. Also, I went completely white apart from a small patch at the back of my head. Now with regular injections, my hair is back to normal apart from the colour, that stayed white.

My hair thinning/loss hasn’t improved in the slightest with B12 injections but then again there are lots of other reasons why it might be happening...I’m getting older, post menopausal, thyroid is borderline underactive and when tested recently zinc level is at the bottom of the range.

My hair was coming out before treatment and did not really get much better after, I have started to use the German made shampoo in the green bottle which has helped , it is expensive but I use it very sparingly and it does seem to improve the condition of my hair so I dont have to buy conditioner anymore

Sadly, runnergirl24 , it is - even now, it is one of the warning signs I look out for- washing hair and it all starts coming away like a sticky web while shampooing, and continues up to brushing it out after washing.

Partner stopped having a bath with me as it was like "sitting on a bird's nest". Also goes very frizzy first (dying hair strands?), so actually looks better condition, albeit thinner, after shedding. It got very much better over a long period of self-injecting, but even now can occur when I've been overdoing it (aka : grabbing energy opportunities when they arise to get things done that I've been putting off for a better day).

Could also be folate, because I have to supplement this and iron. GP convinced it's a low folate problem, but evidence on here would suggest B12 deficiency problem just as likely to be the culprit.

Don't stress too much- a lot of people also report much improvement once B12 levels increased.

The film of Dr Chandy on 'Inside Out' shows how one of his patient's hair grew back once given B12 injections:

I've had Hashimoto's for many years (along with other family members), as well as slight psoriasis. I've been self injecting for eighteen months now, after two viruses left me with B12 def. neurological symptoms as well as sudden thinning hair.

Among many improvements since injecting B12, hair has thickened up again, frizziness gone and texture improving, with tufts of new growing along the hairline where I'd had a patch of psoriasis 🤗

Yes!!! My hair started to frizz up and then fall out. If only doctors know to look for B12 def when you start losing your hair! Multiple dr visits and thousands of dollars later.... finally one dr figured it out!

I'm injection for almost 3 months now but my hair keeps falling out...it has become frizzy and very thin :/ Docs won't do full blood test but I fear my hair loss is also due to mineral depletion, iron deficiency and folate deficiency. After all the suffering I went through before getting the injections, I find losing my hair a very painful adding on top all of this :( I truly hope they will come back, I don't care that I'm gray from the age of 31 but I do care loosing so many of my hair yes...
