B12 deficiency - self medicating

Hi There. Enquiring on behalf of my partner who has recently been diagnosed with a B12 deficiency. He has terrible symptoms but the dr's are unwilling to treat him. He has been using a spray from Holland & Barratt which has helped a little but he is really desperate and wants now to self medicate. I saw lots of posts on this forum about ordering from versandapo.de/ but despite googling the site and adding English, it's still not translating and even when I order, when I get to the delivery stage, I am unable to change the delivery country from Germany to the UK. I don't really want to order from China which seems like the only other option. Can anyone advise on where they are sourcing it from? Or make any other recommendations? Thank you so much!

There are other options. Most people go for the Rotexmedica hydroxocobalamin 1000 mcg in 1 mL. Available in packs of 10 or 100.

I’ve used amazon.de amazon.de/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_...

Which is easy if you’re used to the UK site.

I got my last lot from mycare mycare.de/en/suche/b12+depo... who have a site that’s partly English.

I think versando has been transferred to another supplier which is probably why things aren't working.

some use amazon.de and mycare.de as alternatives - both sites have translations but that doesn't mean that everything is translated.

Intravita is a UK pharmacy they deliver next day and have adenosyl hydroxy and methyl forms of cobalamin.

Works out very cheap if you email them they can send you their price list

B12 charities use this pharmacy too so it's reputable

Could you kindly provide some link that I could use to order B12 from this company? I googled Intravita UK but only found some Colchester company that does not seem to send anything by post. Any alternative to ordering B12 from Germany would be welcome to many on this site, but unfortunately you have not explained how we might do this...

Hi

I email them and they email a price list. It is not legal to advertise it in the UK so you won't find the information online.

info@intravita.com

Of ordered and paid before 2pm you will receive it the next day. I order syringes from elsewhere though and mess bin etc. Dr chandy on b12d.org has recommendations for those if you don't know what to buy.

The reason why intravita can't state it is for medical purposes is because of uk law doesn't allow them too. Not because they choose to. That's is what all UK suppliers have to so. If your worried about this unless you can still purchase abroad. I know many that recommend it though and have had no problems myself. Wish you all the best with your treatment.

Also if you feel uncomfortable ordering from websites you can request b12 from b12d.org and they send it you free of charge. They rely on donations, so you can donate what you have. GPS run the charity so it's very safe. They also give you advice.

I wouldn’t trust intravita with a barge pole.

Their B12 is not for use to treat a medical deficiency. If something nasty happens to you they can turn around and say ‘nothing to do with us, our small print absolves us from responsibility’.

They claim that their methylcobalamin doesn’t need to be refrigerated, unlike everybody else in the world.

Charities use it so I've found it trustworthy.

One charity uses it.

I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole. They also reckon that methylcobalamin doesn’t need to be refidgerated. They also think that the heart is a nerve!

It's ran by GPs with the most experience with b12 deficiency than most others.

B12.org ran by GPs say their methylcobalamin doesn't need to be refrigerated either.

Ran by a GP.

Jadeo0909 in reply to fbirder

It's actually ran by 4 GPs.

One isn't allowed to prescribe b12 anymore because he didn't follow uk guidelines to give 3 monthly when his patients needed more. He also offered to fund the b12 out of his own pocket because people were in such desperate need for it. It's a shame more GPs don't have such integrity, because people like me and others on this forum wouldn't need to self medicate.

fbirder profile image
fbirder in reply to Jadeo0909

Nope. It had nothing to do with 3 month limits. It’s because he was prescribing for fatigue.

Many doctors ignore the 3 month injection cycle. Even the BNF allows for two monthly. My GP prescribes fortnightly. But my doctor doesn’t prescribe it willy-nilly.

Many of those people who he has prescribed to was not getting b12 injections and when he prescribed them they had a reversal of symptoms. Many have been misdiagnosed with MS and now can walk again. Many people aren't as lucky as you to have a gp that will break the 3month rule and have to self medicate. I trust the judgment of numerous GPs ability to source medication.

This is the same doctor who told somebody that he did not have MS - based on nothing more than a telephone conversation. Dangerous and immoral.

Jadeo0909 profile image
Jadeo0909 in reply to fbirder

I don't make assumptions without evidence. I'd like to hear the actual phone call and his side of the story.

Whether you trust Dr chandy or not there and many other GPs that work at the charity. Thousands of people use the charity annually I've not heard anyone have a negative experience.

Hi!

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

The link I use is

versandapo.de/

And I use Google Translate to automatically change it to English.

Don't be afraid to ask again if you need more help.

I was in exactly the same position. I used mycare.de/en

All in English (if not showing in English google mycare.de in English and it’ll take you there) my order arrived in about 5 days and the treatment has started to work for me. Definitely would recommend.

Good luck :)

So glad people gave you good replies Kaylz as I couldn't answer your question. I have also learnt from your question. Best of luck and let us know how your partner gets on. I supplement my injections with sublingual 500 mg tables and also 1000 mg tables at times but I know we absorb very little of this and from reading on this site it's not so beneficial. X

Thank you so much for all of your replies folks! We finally managed to order from versandapo.de - we had been using an old browser so switched to Chrome and did the automatically translate thing. Also when we used paypal to pay, it automatically picked up the delivery address & changed to UK. Thanks again! Now we just need to find syringes and sharps bin...hmm...Cheers!
