Hi everyone. I have b12 defiencey for years and could only get injection every 3 months which wasn't enough so I started to self inject every 8 weeks last year. Worked good for a while but I have been in bad form for a while. Had bloods done and was told folate levels were very low. Don't know levels but was prescribed 5mg three times a week. Feeling a bit better but not quite right yet. Was wondering if it might be a good idea to inject b12 again soon. I had injection about 3 weeks before diagnosis. Any advice would be gratefully accepted

Low folate levels with b12 defiencey
Hi suzykg1. The symptoms of folate deficiency can make you feel quite ill and there are cross-over symptoms between folate deficiency and B12 deficiency. The fact that you're beginning to feel better since you started the folate is perhaps indicative that folate deficiency is the cause of your current symptoms...which will hopefully improve further once your folate levels increase.
Suggest you continue the frequency of B12 injections that you were previously having (assuming that that self-injection frequency you were on was ufficient to stop the symptoms of B12 deficiency returning).
Having said that, B12 is not toxic or harmful so trying more frequent injections won't hurt you (though I suspect that low folate is the issue here).
Hope you feel better soon 👍
