Doctors appointment update

Hey all, last week I posted on here for the first time. I said I would keep in touch after my doctor's visit today. (See my previous post)

I seen my doctor in hopes to get more b12 shots a month. I am currently only taking one. She instead suggested that I see a neurologist incase of MS. And also wants more blood work done. There are several things she wants bw for, one being Lupus. Of course I don't think I have MS or Lupus and she just seems to be ignoring the fact that l might just need more b12. I asked her to please just give me more b12 injections, and she said that my last bw indicated my b12 was through the roof. I said to her that is exactly my point, because last time I had BW done I was taking weekly injections for a month. She looked pretty confused almost as if she had forgotten which patient I was.

She then decided that I should hold off on the BW for 2 weeks, because I had my last b12 injection done Sunday the 22nd. In order for her to see if my b12 levels dropped I need to wait a while. My appointment definitely did not go as I hoped. I am not thrilled about this 2 weeks wait; since today I began feeling exhausted again. Unfortunately, There isn't much I can do. :(

I did pick up a book at my local library. "Could it be B12" looking forward to reading it.

Replies are welcome! :)

pity your doctor is so obsessed by blood levels - its potentially good for diagnosing an absorption problem but its not much use after you have started treatment because raising your serum B12 means that normal range (which was dodgy in the first place) becomes really useless as a guide.

Raising serum B12 - which will happen if you have a shot - can kick of a reaction that makes the process that allows B12 to go from your blood to your cells a lot less efficent - leaving you without enough B12 in your cells to do everything that your cells need it for unless your blood levels are really high.

ruling out other conditions isn't necessarily a bad thing as symptoms do overlap and if you have PA then the chances of another auto-immune condition get higher.

I agree! Thank you for taking time to read my post and replying. I'll keep hanging in there and hope these next 2 weeks don't drag.
