It can cause nerve damage. I have PA and nerve damage in both hands and feet caused by long term withholding of b12 injections
A B12 deficiency tends to cause peripheral neuropathy - in the feet and, less commonly in the hands, with the effect being symmetrical. It doesn’t tend to hit a single nerve as with your palsy. At least that’s what my neurologist said two weeks ago when I went to see him about my cranial nerve palsy.
The most likely cause for your palsy is trauma. Banging the elbow.
Diseases that can cause it are arthritis, polio and leprosy.
