How many have symptoms that are long lasting?

Once b12 levels are back up and time goes on, is it normal to still have some symptoms sneak in from time to time? Or should all symptoms, once improved stay gone. Just curious.

Hi Plucky1976 A lot will depend on the severity and longevity of your B12 deficiency as to how long before there is no further improvement or recovery.

Some symptoms will "disappear" quite quickly whereas others may take months or even years. There is no set timescale as we are all different.

If you can get to see a doctor please also ask him/her to check your Folate level as this and B12 help your iron to make red blood cells and to function properly.

I am not a medically trained person but I've had P.A. (a form of B12 deficiency) for more than 45 years and I still occasionally get a return of some symptoms in the run up to the next injection.

I wish you well

Hi Clivealive! Yes I am taking an Iron Plus supplement which contains 400 of folate and 28 of iron bisglycinate daily. I found my folate would dip so I figured it wouldn't hurt. Since I've started this the burning in my muscles has stopped and I have much less of the internal shakiness that was driving me crazy. My anxiety has definitely calmed down but I did start a low dose of an anxiety med as I just couldn't take it anymore. It's only been a few days on that so I highly doubt it's doing much yet. I am starting to feel more and more like my old self as the weeks go by so I'll take it😊 Thank you for the reassurance!

From following posts on here, I think a lot of people have the odd symptom sneak in again from time to time. Although perhaps there are people who feel completely well and disappear from this site because it's no longer important to them?

My symptoms wander back if I'm in need of a jab, or if my other blood levels are low. I just use symptoms as a reminder to top up - I'm still experimenting with how long I can comfortably go between jabs, and I'm really good at remembering my multivits these days! :)
