Yep I also suffered with terrible headaches, and they were the worst possible headaches I could imagine, however I made some enquiries and was found to have low B12, so had the 5 injections every other week, and now get one injection every 3 months, now I can't remember how long it took for the headaches to subside, but I haven't had a single headache since the vitamin B12 injections, but I believe men in there mid fifties and who smoke can be put into this bracket with reoccurring headaches, to which I fall into, I was also prescribed folic acid tablets along with the injections, I was at my wits end with these headaches and had me in tears with pain, so my sympathy to you, I hope you can soon be headache free, thank you.

I had headaches everyday prior to b12 injections but i was on 5000 iu of D daily and i think it could have been low b12 or that once i joined this forum i found out i should be taking magnesium with vitamin D.

Either way i never get headaches anymore.

Best of luck and health.

B12 and/or folate deficiencies cause increase in homocysteine levels, and high homocysteine has been associated with migraine.

I have never had a migraine but experienced a visual aura once a few weeks before I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy that responded well to high dose oral B12 and a B complex. At the time I experienced the aura (a blind spot and flashing lights immediately to the right of fixation) I already had tingling sensations in my lower legs and feet that I suspect may have been associated with high homocysteine.

Another interesting article on homocysteine and migraine:

I have a similar story as Cb1963.

My daughter when in 6th grade was having regular ocular migraine (anytime she was exposed to bright light) where she would be blind for an hour plus terrible migraine. I started giving her

B-complex daily. Couple years later I asked her when was the last time she had an ocular migraine - she said it had been 2 years. She hasn't had one since. Docs didn't know what ... so focused on when happened during her cycle.
