I tried amitriptyline that worked for a while but I stopped because I felt too drugged. Does suit others better . A low paediatric dose at night is used 10mg. I was prescribed a beta blocker and various other drugs ti help prevent migrains and chronic tension headaches. It's unfortunately trial and error . The neurologist said that!! It's awful and no easy fix. I'm doing less and less and avoiding bright lights (light sensitivity ) as a known trigger for me. Some foods affect people. B12 injections have definitely I hope they lessen soon for you as awful and so dibilitating. Drink loads of water .

It did for me.

I used to get both silent & the ones that made me violently sick. Since self Injecting, I've not had either now for months.

To be honest I didn't take anything for them. Not too long after I started self injecting every other day I noticed I hadn't had one & I still haven't since just after Xmas

I would say the bad ones were once every 3 weeks or so. The silent ones I'd get at least one every day, or every other day that lasted from 5-30 minutes

I didn’t realise migraines were connected to B12 deficiency. I have both but even when my B12 levels are high I still get them. I’m on B2 Riboflavin 400mg , amitriptyline (although hasn’t worked) & take Sumatriptan when I get a migraine. I am positive my migraines are hormonal though so exploring trying to stop my cycle to see if it works.

The doctor thought mine were hormonal or stress or rebound. I trialled hrt. Amitriptyline (not at the same time!) Prescribed sumatripan but it was always in the wrong place when I needed it and couldnot move. I stopped paracetamol for 31 days ni east fest so not rebound headaches. Same with Ibrufren (spelt wrong) off everything now . Do take vits. And of course b12 injections. I'm convinced the loading doses of vit D helped. Level now 76. Magnesium in range too. Hormonal headaches are quite distinct. Mine were definitely from b12 defiency. I'd had hormonal headaches in the past but not migrains.

So you might be having g thrm worse because of b13 defiency? ?

Hope they ease soon

My migraines decreased significantly in frequency and strength once I hit menopause. I have never found any connection between migraine and B12.

Me neither, I know mine are to do with hormones as I only started getting them when I hit 40 and they occur at the same time as my period.
