I am fed up with always having no energy and feeling like my tired is tired I get easily confused and forgetful. I have my B12 injections every 6 weeks but I think I need it at least every 4 weeks. I have asked doctor if I can have it more often but they said I have it more often than recommended now and if I cause a fuss they will change it to every 10-12 weeks. if that was to happen I would need to spend 8 weeks of it in bed.
can I go to a chemist and get it done more often or should I go down the route of self injection if so where do I start

Hi Nickywc have you had your Folate and Vitamin D tested recently?
There is a complex interaction between folic acid, vitamin B12 and iron. A deficiency of one may be "masked" by excess of another so the three must always be in balance. Folic acid works closely with vitamin B12 in making red blood cells and helps iron function properly in the body.
Vitamin D deficiency is becoming "flavour of the month" because we are "covering ourselves up from the sun" and its symptoms include:
Getting Sick or Infected Often. ...
Fatigue and Tiredness. ...
Bone and Back Pain. ...
Depression. ...
Impaired Wound Healing. ...
Bone Loss. ...
Hair Loss. ...
Muscle Pain.
I cannot help you with self injecting B12 but there are others on here who do and will be able to give you good advice.
Hi i self inject, take iron tablets and use sublingual b12 with folic acid as well.
As Clivealive says, it isnt just B12 that is required. You may need to boost your ferritin and folic acid as well.
If you are in the UK, pop into Boots. They sell ActiveIron which is a time release capsule. It isnt released in the stomach, it is released in the intestine. Which means ppl with PA are more likely to get the benefits. I started them 3 months ago. Was taking 1 every day. But for the last 6 weeks i have taken 1 every other day. My energy levels are much better.
Also use Biovea sublingual drops 1,000mcg Methylcobalamin or their dissolvable tablets just before my next injection.
I have started self injecting because my new doctors moved my 6 week injections to 8 weeks and now im at 12. I didnt want to risk getting poorly like i used to be. So after joining this page i decided to start self injecting. I buy hydroxocobalamin from Germany and inject at 6 weeks.
Go to a drug store, get you some sublingual tablets or liquid in at least 5000mg and just take it. Won't hurt you. do not swallow tablets, dissolve under tongue and the liquid needs to stay under your tongue a minute before you swallow.
