I've been on the pill for nearly a year Now and they used to work great to stop my periods, but I have been put on the b12 injections and I have recently had an b12 injection and also started my period and started the pill again...I have been on the pill for a week this mouth and it hasn't stopped my period I'm wondering it the b12 injection could stop my pill from working?

Hi Milli66smile I'm not a medically trained person and think you should speak with your doctor or pharmacist about this.

I do know that certain contraceptives can have an adverse affect on B12 levels, which is perhaps why you were prescribed it, but I'm not sure that it "works" the other way round.

Hopefully some-one more knowledgeable will be able to give you good advice.

I had an implant fitted after being diganosed in Jan 2010. It has really helped to keep my mood swings from happening so often as well as other things. Would highly recommend them.

I used to have the implant but I put a lot off weight on with it so I got it taken out and put on the pill.

Fair enough, the pill didn't work for me as it kept causing issues with my blood pressure. Hope you get it sorted out.

Hopefully I do, thank you. I used to have a lot off problems with the implant after getting it put it I was on my period none stop for all most 3 months this coursed me to lose a lot off the iron in my blood, then I started getting really tired and had no energy so I had my blood taken and found out because I was bleeding a lot it I became aneimc because the amount off iron in my blood that I lost when I was bleeding on my period.

with clivealive on speaking to pharmacist and/or GP.

B12 deficiency can impact on fertility and that means it can impact on menstral cycles - possible that the injection would have resulted in something that had been balanced going out of balance - or could just be co-incidence, particularly if the menopause could be part of the equation.

Is it the progesterone only pill that you are taking - if you are taking it to stop the period. I've had a few bleeds that kept going because I was going through the menopause and was prescribed the progesterone only pill and find it quite effective for stopping the period ... but that it seems to play havoc with my B12 levels so only used a 1/2 pill the last time I had problems with a bleed - more that it was excessively heavy on that occasion - the time before it had been light but just kept going forever.
