B12 Injection and Acne Correlation?

Hello All!

I was wondering if anyone here has experienced acne as a side effect of B12 injections? I've started to have a lot of cystic acne that seemed to appear after starting B12 injections and worsens each week along with each injection - so it seems like it's potentially correlated.

I've read online that some people who take the tablet form eliminate this when switching from cyanocobalamin to methylcobabalamin, but I was wondering if anyone who can only take the injection form noticed improvements over time or if switching to a different injection type helped?

Thank you!

Yes I had these.Mainly around my hairline but my mouth and on my neck and upper back.

They were the least of my problems at the time .

They are a known side effect as cells wake up .

They go as the skin gets fed I suppose like a detox.

Just keep them dry and leave them alone.

They will go and fewer return.

Then they stop appearing over time..

I think it's healing and time that's needed .

I just carried on with hydroxcobalamin Injections i was started on .

Did take sublingual and tablets of cyanocobalamin and methylcobalabin but when I stopped these no difference to spots.

I don't think I absorbed the oral b12 though or ? Tiny amounts

Yes, acne on face, rash on neck and awful sore spots on scalp appeared at the start. Got worse initially, but gone now.

The spots on face / neck can come back a bit which I now take as a sign I need a jab now.

Yes and I’m in my 70’s so a bit of a shock, but it didn’t last and stopped after a couple of months.

An acne-like response is one of the known side effects of injecting B12. As soon as injections are stopped or, sometimes, reduced, the acne-like condition goes away.

Just my thoughts but The acne correlation may depend on b12 type and brand (preservatives added),

I haven't spent the time to figure that out.

However for me, I do 1.5 mg/.5 ml of cyano b12 per day and cannot get rid of the cystic acne unless I take high doses of b5 (pantothenic acid) daily. Took a month.

I also wash my face morning and night with Clinique oily skin facial wash. (Nothing else worked)

This allows me to continue b12 injections.

I'm 5 days post 2 week loading doses and all my forehead, sides of my face and down onto my neck have are now covered in acne. Presumed it was a side affect of having such heavy doses all at once and hoping they will go soon. Trying to just use my normal face wash and keep them as dry and clean as possible. I'm normally a spot popper but trying my hardest.
